“Pure Goodness Pumpkin Seed Protein is derived directly from the naturally nutrient-rich Styrian pumpkin seeds, grown in Styria, a province in the south of Austria. The naturally dark green, shell-less seeds of the Styrian pumpkin have been particularly sought after for their notably higher concentration of antioxidants, vitamins and unsaturated fatty acids.  These powerful seeds are a great source of protein, containing all 9 essential amino acids, and are one of the best plant-based sources of omega’s.

Why we cold-press our seeds

Cold-pressing is a natural extraction method that maximizes nutrient preservation, quality and flavor. Without the use of chemicals, solvents, or temperatures above 1O4 degrees Fahrenheit, we gently cold-press our seeds using a mechanical process that extracts the protein without harming their raw, precious nutrients.
This careful process ensures that all the natural pure goodness within our seeds is preserved to truly nourish you.”

My Thoughts:

Although I’m a huge proponent of getting a large portion of your nutrients from whole foods, there is certainly a place in my diet for clean protein powders–and I love changing up my protein game from time to time.

This pumpkin seed protein by Pure Goodness is a pretty exciting one. I’ll get right into it….

While the ingredients are not organic, they are non-gmo, as well as many other fantastic thing like raw, gluten free, etc.). This powder has a carb AND protein content (with a tiny bit of fat) which makes it closer to being a meal replacement for me than a true protein powder. This makes it convenient to consume, as I don’t need to add a bunch of other carb sources to make it more of a meal (I typically add raw cacao to my protein shakes for some healthy carbohydrates).

I really, really enjoyed the flavor of this mix. It truly has the delicious, hearty, earthy flavor of the pumpkin seed with just the right richness from the vanilla flavor.

While you CAN simply just add this powder to water or a plant-based milk, I occasionally like to mix several different protein powders together to diversify my protein sources and enhance my body’s absorption. So, you can essentially use this protein powder in a multitude of ways. Be creative. I’d recommend trying it first with just water so that you’re familiar with the flavor. Then go crazy with it!
