My Thoughts:

The role of protein in my daily food intake has become increasingly significant as my attention to resistance training has progressed. These workouts demand the best of me–which results in days where I feel slightly broken down and exhausted, in need of a replenishing + rebuilding dose of protein.

I was immediately impressed with Naked Nutrition’s Naked Whey because the ingredient list is only three-deep. All you’ll find in there is whey protein concentrate + coconut sugar and raw cacao powder. That’s a refreshing change of pace from most store-bought, generic whey protein powders. They’re normally chock full of hard-to-pronounce ingredients and preservatives to extend the shelf life.

Naked’s ingredient lists make it evident that they are striving for quality and health-boosting ingredients–not primarily profit. They care about what goes into their products and that is awesomesauce. Their commitment to grass-fed is something I applaud. Seeking grass-fed weigh is important because it means that the cows producing the milk from which the whey is derived have been fed the diet they were intended to eat–not one to artificially enhance or increase their milk supply. This means there are no added hormones getting into your system through the whey you’re taking in.

I can speak from experience when I say that consuming cold processed (versus whey protein that has been heat processed–& the majority of them are) whey protein HAS made a difference for me in regards to how this protein sits in my stomach. It feels like my body can absorb and assimilate the protein and amino acids from this whey protein more easily and with more comfort than other proteins that have been exposed to heat. I REALLY like that they choose to cold process.

To be perfectly frank, I would reach for a vegan protein before a whey protein if it was up to me. I’ve found that my body feels its best when I am consuming a lot of plants. I love that Naked provides both options–both whey and vegan proteins: both with superior ingredient lists. THAT SAID, I understand high quality whey protein like this one to be highly bioavailable (easily absorbed by your body), so I like to add it into my protein rotation sometimes.

I found that I enjoyed the whey protein best when I used the recommended TWO scoops of protein, as it made it yummier, creamier and more satisfying than just one scoop. Double UPPPP Uh uh! I couldn’t conclusively decipher whether or not the brown rice vegan protein is raw (that’s the only thing keeping me from giving these proteins a booming 5-star rating).
