Welcome to this post: Best Products from NOW Foods.

HAI GUYS!

You guys know I love NOW Foods as a brand, I love their company culture and I’ve been so fortunate to work with them in various capacities leading up to present day. I’ve even had the opportunity to tour their facilities in Chicago and truly get a deeper look into what goes into their products and the team behind it.

So, here are a few (it’s SUPER hard to pick only a few) of my favorite products.

Green Phytofoods

I put Green Phytofoods in everything! Well, almost. I’ve even sprinkled some into paleo pancake batter and they were really yummy. On a daily basis, though, I add a heaping tablespoon of these greens to my post workout shake (I actually drink part of it intra workout).

I love the expansive range of awesome ingredients in this product. From various greens like wheatgrass to superfruits and roots, this powder packs a real hearty punch yet tastes good when mixed into smoothies, shakes, etc.

Our black labrador rescue, Kona, even gets this sprinkled on her food a few days a week!

Chlorella

This sea green is one of the single best foods to consume to reduce the heavy metal levels in your body. They act by binding to the heavy metals and carrying them out of your system. Chlorella (and its sea green cousin, Spirulina) are also the two most protein rich food sources on the planet when compared pound for pound. Insane right? Talk about plant power!

Methyl B-12: 10,000 mcg

Methylated B-12 is a form that is easy for your body to use and doesn’t require extensive breakdown by your system. B12 is vital for so many basic bodily processes including brain function, detoxification, cellular vitality, etc.

For me specifically, my mother has pernicious anemia, meaning that she cannot absorb b12 through her digestive tract, no matter how much she eats. Thus, having a sublingual B12 supplement that dissolves under the tongue is the best way to get B12 in her body. I believe I struggle with the same thing, thus I’ve chosen to supplement with this high dose Methyl B12. I’ve seen a huge difference in sleep, energy levels and overall feel good factor since starting this! How freaking encouraging.

Methyl Folate: 5,000 mcg

With so many multivitamins containing folic acid (not the same as folate), I found it important for me to seek out a specific supplement that contains an ample does of Methyl-Folate. The “methyl” part means that it has been made more readily absorbable for your body.

There are certain gene mutations that make it hard for your body to absorb folate in a non-methylated form. A significant percentage of the population have this MTHFR gene mutation. It’s worth looking into with your Functional Medicine Practitioner or Naturopath if you’re curious. I’ve personally not been tested for it but I have suspected it’s been the case for me. Having this gene mutation means that your body does not detox efficiently. Taking this supplement has helped me a whole lot.

Magnesium Inositol

An absolute staple item for my boyfriend and I before bed. We just add a scoop to water, stir and then chug! The lemon flavor makes it tasty and enjoyable; definitely not like you have to choke it down.

Magnesium is one of the trace minerals that most of us are deficient in. When you supplement with it, it helps promote relaxation, prevents cramping and helps achieving a state of calm more achievable.

I can tell a noticeable difference in how deeply I sleep when I take this magnesium before bed. I feel more rested and it helps me recover from the day’s tough workouts as I sleep.

Liver Caps

As a woman that has struggled with painful menstrual cramps since age 12, I’ve always been looking for ways to naturally support my body so that I don’t have to ever look to ibuprofen for relief. I’ve learned that liver function and health is key in women’s hormonal vitality and the menstrual cycle. Essentially, every month that you have your cycle, your liver filters out all of the excess hormones that have populated your system.

If your liver is not functioning at a high level, these hormones form a sort of “exhaust” in your system and build up to the detriment of your health. So–taking supplements to support your liver, especially for women with intense PMS, can be very helpful!

Liver Refresh

I take this in combination with the capsuled liver to provide some added support and effectiveness. This is a strictly herbal supplement, whereas the liver caps are mostly glandular.

Jojoba Oil

This is my favorite pure oil for skin care. Jojoba oil is the most similar to the sebum that is secreted by the sebaceous glands in your skin, thus, it’s the perfect partner for your skin. I apply this to my skin once in the morning and once at night, right after cleansing. It soaks into my skin effortlessly and hydrates just enough without leaving a globby residue.

If my skin is needing a little more love that day, I like to add a drop of lavender or frankincense to the jojoba oil to rebalance and refresh my skin.

Smiles for Miles Essential Oil Blend

This is my favorite essential oil blend of the many that they make. It’s heavy on the citrus, which the Florida native inside me loves. Here are the ingredients: Orange Oil, Bergamot Oil, Grapefruit Oil, Lime Oil, Lemon Oil, Cinnamon Bark Oil, Nutmeg Oil, Ginger Oil, Natural Vanilla Extract.

You can add this to a diffuser, roller, drop into a washer load of laundry–but my favorite use is in my hair! I actually combine a few drops in the palm of my hand along with Jojoba (or apricot oil, which is even more moisturizing), rub together and then start at my ends and then work my way about halfway up towards my scalp. It’s the perfect quench for my dry ends and also leaves my hair smelling so freshhhh.
