Welcome to this post: Alaska Glacial Mud Skincare Review.

Alaska Glacial Mud

About Alaska Glacial Mud:

Where the river meets the sea. The luxurious spa quality of glacial mud is well known by Alaskans who grow up bathing in its buttery texture. The idea for Alaska Glacial Mud Co. in particular was born in 2001 following an extraordinary journey down the Copper River on a raft where wilderness offered the most auspicious and unexpected spa experience in the world, bathing in glacial pools amidst bear tracks and the call of wild eagles. Since that journey and every time a local resident mentioned that “somebody should bottle this stuff,” Lauren Padawer, the founder of Alaska Glacial Mud Co. realized she was the right woman in the right place at the right time.
The rafting trip was sponsored by the Eyak Preservation Council, a non-profit organization founded by Eyak descendant Dune Lankard. The organization is dedicated to a legacy of cultural and environmental preservation in honor of indigenous Eyak people who have called the Copper River Delta home for thousands of years. The rafting trip instilled a respect and awareness for the Copper River’s bounty and the importance of protecting our planet’s last remaining wild places.
While the playful spa quality of the Copper River mud may have inspired Alaska Glacial Mud Co., it was the river and its inhabitants that gave voice to the importance of sustainability and activism in our company philosophy.
In addition to being purveyors of the finest mineral-rich Alaska Glacial Mud, we are also advocates for the Copper River Delta/Watershed and pledge 10% of our profits to local organizations that love, work and fight for its protection.”

My Description & Thoughts:

I love, love, love these masks! Out of the two scents, I like the Lavender Peppermint best–but, it was a close call. I also really enjoyed the Vanilla Lavender combination. I found the Lavender Peppermint to be my favorite because of the cooling effect that the peppermint has on my skin. It makes the mask leave a refreshing feeling on my face even after I rinse it off.
The use of mud in their products makes them extra awesome. Mud is a natural astringent, exfoliator and skin purifier, making it the perfect base for a facial mask. It did all of those things for my skin: stripped away excess oil, exfoliated as I washed it off, and left my skin pure and fresh feeling.
I also found the texture of this mask to be perfect. In general, I like mud and clay masks best because they tend to be robust & dense and also stay on skin well. The ingredients used in these masks are very good and I like how Alaska Glacial Mud differenciates between plant derived, certified organic and wild crafted. It lets the consumer know that they are not trying to hide anything and they are eager for their customers to see what they’re getting. I especially loved seeing pictures on their website of them gathering the mud!
The handy little brush they they included with the samples is perfect. It makes application and clean up a sinch.
Really a wonderful product that I thoroughly enjoyed using. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a clarifying facial mask with organic ingredients.

My Description & Thoughts:

This is is ideal bar of soap for healthy, clear skin. Like in the mud masks, the mud in this soap naturally gets rid of extra oil and sebum that sits atop skin. Its a unique thing to find a soap that does a gentle yet thorough job of cleansing skin–and this soap is it! Since it provides such a good job at cleaning skin, I do follow up with a moisturizer or serum after using it to help maintain an adequate level of moisture on my skin.
The scent of the soap is pleasant and herbaceous with a zip and zest from the bergamot and lemongrass. It’s a good bar to keep in the shower for the whole family to use because most of the scents would satisfying men and women both, I’d imagine.
The ingredients are really great; I’ve found Alaska Glacial Mud’s ingredient lists to be pretty impressive. I LOVE when a product has many uses. As they suggest, it is indeed great as a body wash, face wash and shampoo substitute. You will really get your money’s worth with this bar. I’d recommend this bar to bring when traveling or camping, since it will replace several bottles of products and will take up much less space.
This is a fantastic, high quality bar of soap that smells great and performs like a dream.
It’s icing on the cake that Alaska Glacial Mud gives back to a cause they believe in, as they mention….”10% profits donated to wilderness preservation, habitat restoration, environmental defense and education in the Copper River Watershed.”
