Raw Elements Sunscreen Review
Though I don’t religiously wear sunscreen, I am always eager to try a new, clean sunscreen to layer under makeup. This sunscreen is one of only a few that I would recommend using. The vast majority of sunscreens that you’ll find at your local drug store are jam-packed with questionable ingredients that are doing your skin more harm than good.
Within this ingredient list, you’ll notice a bunch of organic ingredients, preceded by Zinc Oxide. My knowledge about zinc oxide is this: smaller zinc particles (nano-sized) are more able to penetrate skin than non-nano particles. This means that non-nano zinc particles are able to create a barrier on your skin without being readily absorbed.
So, your skin will absorb only the goodness in this sunscreen–all of the organic oils and substances. Non-nano sized is what you want to look for in sunscreen when shopping around. Zinc oxide is one of many “drug” ingredients found in sunscreens and is considered the safest.
To be the most mindful of protecting yourself, aim to use sunscreen when needed, but rely on hats, shirts, and cover-ups to protect your skin for more extended, intense portions of time in the sun.
