This equates to 10’s of thousands of dollars in lab testing annually to confirm the coffee bean quality, by measuring dozens of different compounds present or not present in the coffee itself. Coffee Purity

Purity Coffee standards are grouped into five different, distinct categories: Farming, Processing, Roasting, Packaging, and Sustainability.  A lot of coffee brands are amazing at meeting perhaps some particular standards, but less so than others. Some, for instance, reach high marks for organic growth & harvest but fall short when it comes to roasting to maximize CGA content. Others may have high levels of antioxidants, but might not be organic.

In 2022, Purity Coffee bought their first coffee farm in Colombia and have begun partnering with their other producers to combine efforts & grow the healthiest coffee possible year after year. The healthiest coffee means that while it is free from harsh contaminants such as pesticides, mold, and mycotoxins as a baseline; it is also highest in CGA and other antioxidants. Purity Coffee is in the process of studying best practices in regenerative farming, which they believe produces coffees highest in nutrition and compounds that make you feel good and ready to take on what life throws at you.

Additionally, environmental sustainability has become a core principle of Purity, and the regenerative organic movement is their guide. Their eyes are on a regenerative future. Operating regenerative farms is holistic–involving soil health, biodiversity, animal welfare, fair wages, fair working conditions, among other things. Purity has witnessed that as consumers realize just how good coffee can be for health, they will ask for the standards that support the farmers and the climate. In turn, Purity is committed to providing certified organic, specialty-grade, regeneratively or biodynamically farmed coffee that is measurably high in CGA and nutrients and tested to be free of defects and mycotoxins. Purity Coffee Low Acid Beans

As the bean is roasted, healthy chlorogenic acids and other desirable antioxidant compounds diminish. Purity Coffee’s goal is to be the highest in antioxidant compounds. They roast to maximize chlorogenic acids, so they experiment with different curves and test the results for the profile that proves to retain the most of these stand-out compounds.

In the beginning of the roasting process, acrylamide is formed and is broken down later in the roast. Thus, if the bean is under-roasted, there will be higher levels of said acrylamide, which is less than ideal and unhealthy for you. Purity Coffee roasts specifically to decrease acrylamide. Acrylamide cannot be totally avoided, but can be greatly decreased through a proper roasting protocol. Purity does not under-roast.

Over Roasting Can Prevent Low Acid Coffee

Over-roasting coffee may form polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), some of which are carcinogenic. PAHs in the roasted coffee beans are dependent on roasting temperature and roasting time. We carefully choose when to end the roasting cycle to eliminate PAH content in our coffee.

We prepare, organize, document and send off our profile samples for testing. Our scientists are evaluating the data and developing standards as we submit green coffees and roast profiles to them.

Purity Coffee Review

Coffee is such a massive part of our culture. I’m a big fan. I’m also super passionate about letting you guys know about brands that are growing coffee with massive regards to quality + purity. If you read thru their mission above, it’s easy to tell that they are doing coffee with the utmost regard for the health implications. I have a lot of appreciation for this. It may come as no surprise at this point, but it’s key to realize that (like food), not all coffee is grown equally.

Most of it is grown with profit as the main goal, versus health and vitality. Thus, most coffee consumed is rife with pesticides and mold, due to the less than optimal growing conditions and processing practices.

The reason it’s important to me to have organic coffee is because it’s something I consume 6-7 days out of the week. Because I consume it so often, the quality is important to me. In general, that’s my rule of thumb with buying things organic. I don’t fret if 100% of what I consume is organic, but if it’s something I consume daily, then it moves high up on my priority list to seek an organic option.

Home Coffee Brewing Options

We have a great Burr grinder at home so we opted for their bags of Whole Bean coffee, but they also have a K-Cup option for Keurig users. This coffee has a rich, smooth taste from the darker roasted beans and is delicious black or with your favorite healthy additives (we love superfoods and plant based milks).

I’m generally just very stoked to know about this brand. We don’t buy a lot of bagged coffees because we do a lot of our own roasting of green coffee beans at home (and most bagged coffees are cruddy and/or it’s hard to tell what’s in them and how they’ve been grown). However, Purity Coffee is changing how we view coffee. It will now be my go-to for our house and a great option for gifting to friends and family.
