ChristinasStory

Christina’s Story:

“My journey began when I was in the prime of my life, finishing years of university, getting married and starting my career. Suddenly, my vision blurred and I was seeing double. One eye went wall-eyed and I couldn’t see. If I tried to open my eyes I would fall over with dizziness. This introduced me to the medical system, and ultimately was sent to a “specialist” who diagnosed me with multiple sclerosis. Six months later, 4 ½ months pregnant, and still reeling from my last diagnosis, I was dealt another blow, I had thyroid cancer. In my fifth month of pregnancy, I underwent major surgery to completely remove my thyroid, and soon after, I was radiated. That’s when I found out that the cancer had spread to my lungs. Another radiation treatment, six months later made me very ill, but the results were the same. The cancer tumors were still the same size, at stage 4 and I was sent home to “wait it out” with cancer and MS.

I began taking an immune suppressant drug to help decrease the effects of the MS. After struggling a month to inject myself, and suffering with side effects, I was informed that the drug company would not allow me to take this drug because I had cancer too. What a waste of time, money, and added stress.

At age 26, I had been poked and prodded long enough. It became apparent that something was clearly wrong with the chemistry of my body. I decided to take my health into my own hands! I attended a health seminar about enzymes, probiotics, and raw foods, and I decided that I would try to heal myself. I made up my mind that I would heal and then I would use my story to inspire others too. My husband and I, and baby Antonio committed to changing our lifestyles and eating habits. We discarded every food from our cupboards, and replaced all of it with only raw organics foods. Then, our diet consisted of fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts, seeds, oils, and top quality enzymes, probiotics, and other raw supplements.

The first few days and weeks of our new lifestyle proved very challenging. While my body detoxified, I experienced severe migraines, fever, and blurred vision. Twenty six years of processed and chemically laden foods finally came out of my body. I shed a pound a day and within 3 weeks of adapting to this new lifestyle, scar tissue began healing. Amazingly, I no longer required my prescription glasses.

For the last ten years, I have not required any subsequent medical procedures for either disease. Against all odds, I am still thriving. We even had another healthy child Giulia, who is now 7 years old. I attribute my recovery to my new lifestyle, food choices, and pro-active care. Today, my diet consists of at least 50% raw food, with all else as a secondary. drinkmeTM Beverages are an integral part of my day. I visit an endocrinologist yearly and thankfully, everything is normal. I have never felt better in my life, and I am committed to helping others.

A quote that influenced me, is…. “The only thing I drank was a cup of reality, with a shot of appreciation.”– Kermit the Frog.

The truth is, sometimes one has to hit rock bottom before one can bounce back. I am truly grateful for the life journey that I have been through the past ten years. When I hear people say, “I’m sorry for all that you have been through”, I respond, “don’t be sorry…it’s the best thing that has ever happened to me!”

My Thoughts:

If you’re on the hunt for a raw, organic, cold-pressed juice, you’re likely to come across a handful of brands that are accessible at your local health food store. Many of them are great options and are highly nutritious.

What sets DrinkMe beverages apart from the world of juices is that these drinks are BLENDED, not JUICED. Thus, the naturally occurring fiber in the fruits and veggies used is intact in every bottle of DrinkMe. This makes each bottle more satisfying, more detoxifying and more in line with how nature intended us to consume it.

On top of the fact that these drinks are fiber rich, they are also entirely organic, raw and nutritionally rich. There are fewer ways to ingest such a hearty dose of healing nutrients in a short amount of time. A bottle of DrinkMe is ideal to grab on your way to work, with lunch or for a quick energy boost.

The frozen smoothie packs are an excellent way to store a healthy meal in your work’s freezer, or simply keep at home for a quick whip-up. The flavor of them is so fresh and delicious that I didn’t need to mix them with anything. I just let them thaw a bit before I drank them. Refreshing and delicious!

My experience with DrinkMe has been nothing short of spectacular. Christina is so generous, passionate, kind–and I absolutely believe in the products that she has created. My local Whole Foods has these products, making it easy for me to re-stock on them. For you guys and gals, DrinkMe makes it easy to find a store near you that carries DrinkMe. I’d recommend these to anyone looking to make a great, daily investment in your health. These drinks can help take your nutrition to the next level!

On Juice

Overall Rating: 3 Stars

About On Juice:

“OnJuice takes its cue from Mother Nature herself. Simplicity, purity and balance are the three pillars upon which our juice line is built. We make use of nature’s own gifts by nourishing our bodies with only locally sourced, fresh fruits and vegetables. Using the purest produce we can lay our hands on ensures that every OnJuice bottle that leaves our kitchens is a well thought out and encouraging prescription for health – from the inside out.

The body is a machine while the mind is an engine. We aim to strike a balance between the two by nourishing and protecting both entities.

______________________

We’ve done the research, prepared the product and pressed the health right into your hands! All you have to do is take a sip!

OnJuice is a complete lifestyle and wellness company with a mission to bring health, nutrition and balance to your life through a wide range of cold-pressed juices, smoothies, milks, tonics, nutrient packed soups and freshly prepared raw foods. Raw juice is the purest form of juice. Using only the finest 100% locally sourced fruits and vegetables, OnJuice is unpasteurized, cold-pressed, glass bottled and completely chemical-free. The crucial component of our liquid magic is the cold-pressed process that the ingredients undergo before they make their way to your grateful lips.

Our cold pressed technique locks in all the crucial vitamins in fruits and vegetables that are lost during conventional juicing, cooking, baking and heating methods. Our “pressed to perfection” method takes place on a hydraulic press, which extracts only the best produce directly from the pulp of the fruit or vegetable. This process minimizes oxidation and facilitates the release of vitamins, minerals and enzymes for maximum nutrient retention! This process is what separates OnJuice from the juice you can make at home. Drinking raw fruits and vegetables in this way is the most efficient way for the body to absorb essential enzymes and nutrients. Made fresh daily in our local kitchen, OnJuice is a vegan delight, glass bottled and delivered straight to your doorstep to ensure the ultimate in freshness and quality.”

My Thoughts:

I am a huge advocate of organic, cold-pressed, raw juice. I see it as one of the quickest ways to ingest a large amount of live enzymes and nutrients. Fresh juice also provides a bountiful range of health benefits including clear skin and improved digestion. I am always eager to try new brands and see they’re take on juice.

I loved the range of On Juice flavors, with my favorite being the Lemon Aid (taste wise). In regards to nutrition, my favorite are the greens–as green vegetables are amongst the most nutrient dense. I always get an incredibly refreshed feeling after consuming green juice.

After speaking with an On Juice representative on the phone, I learned that On Juice uses some organic produce, but not all. He also did not know whether they used local produce or not. The website states that they do–the lack of knowledge was all a little unnerving.

The thing that really bothers me is that is was SO hard to get that information. In my opinion, it should be clearly stated on the bottled what ingredients are organic. If the brand’s website nor bottling clearly discloses this, I have a bad taste in my mouth about it. Transparency is so important to me when discovering new brands. If you know organic is best, and you don’t use all organic produce, then you won’t get my biggest nod of approval.

That said, I do appreciate that On Juice uses SOME organic product. I certainly wish I had a better idea of what kind of percentages we’re talking about in reference to that.

Though I felt light and refreshed on this cleanse, I don’t know that I’d recommend this cleanse to many organic gurus. I have to believe in the quality of the products that I stand behind–and since the source of these fruits and vegetables is unclear, I am resistant.

Berries, Seeds, & Nuts Bowl for Antioxidants and Good Fats

Berries, Seeds, & Nuts Bowl

Since berries are one of my favorite

healthy snacks,

I try to find new ways to incorporate them into my meals. This is a simple and absolutely delicious way to do that. Berries are full of antioxidants (substances that help prevent cell damage) and also have anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, they make the perfect pre and post-workout snack. Here’s what to put in it:

A handful of fresh berries (I used blackberries, blueberries and raspberries. Also, do not use frozen berries for this–they won’t give this recipe the same fresh heartiness)

A splash of almond milk

About 1 tablespoon of vanilla protein powder–I use Jay Robb’s Vanilla Whey Protein Powder (to add protein and flavor to the milk)

Sprinkling of chia seeds

Sprinkling of flax seeds

Sprinkling of pistachios

Sprinkling of pecans

Toss it all together and enjoy this healthy, yet tasty and satisfying snack!

Beet & Berry Smoothie created by Jesica

This smoothie is awesomely hearty and perfect before a run or workout. A fellow instagrammer shared with me that to ultra-marathoners, beet juice is “nature’s gatorade.” How cool is that!? So I thought, add some delicious mixed frozen berries (blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries) and voila!

What’s In It (exact measurements are not important):

3 or 4 beets chopped up (use the greens too)

1 handful of frozen mixed berries (fresh are better if you have them, but frozen adds a nice chill to the smoothie, so no ice is needed)

Splash of almond milk

Splash of water

There you have some “natural gatorade”!

Enjoy! (doesn’t hurt that it has a pretty color to it, also!)
