Detox RX Master Cleanse Lemon-Aid Powder

Overall Rating: 5-stars

About Lemon-Aid by Detox RX:

“Your morning glass of warm water and lemon just got easier!

Say goodbye to squeezing lemons every morning and say HELLO! to scoop and stir.

Lemon-Aid helps complete the cleansing process that has been going on during the night. This powder when mixed with warm water helps to flush all the systems of elimination, especially the kidneys, the liver and the colon. It also helps to cleanse waste from the digestive tract.

Not only is our Lemon-Aid Master Cleanse Powder super convenient and easy to use, this formula use the ENTIRE LEMON!
The entire lemon is freeze-dried which is the best method for preserving active enzymes and entire matrix of the plant*. Two of the most potent antioxidant bioflavonoids found in lemon rinds are quercetin and rutin. The bioflavonoid in the white inner rind and fibrous strands are also very cleansing.
Quick and easy to prepare. Just mix and drink.
No artificial ingredients or preservatives.
100% Organic Ingredients

Recommended For:  Kick starting a wellness or body detoxification program and to be used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise.Servings: Enough for 30-40 servings, depending on how much you use per serving.

* HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Lemon – Made with whole lemons including bioflavonoid rich peel for additional antioxidant power.
  • Cayenne – Fresh freeze-dried whole cayenne provides a warming sensation to the digestive system*; some find that it increases metabolism, stimulates the circulatory system, aids digestion, and helps regulate blood sugar
  • Maple Syrup – rich in essential nutrients such as manganese as well as zinc; Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2007 found that maple syrup contains polyphenols thought to stimulate insulin release through pancreatic cells.”

My Experience:

I am a reallllllllly big proponent for doing things on a daily basis to help facilitate efficient digestion and detoxification in the body. Healthy digestion and effective detox does so much for body your daily wellness and your longevity in the big picture.

Lemon is a fruit that is alkaline-forming in the body and helps your body stay calibrated and stay at a healthy pH. I’ve known for a while now that cayenne does some good work on your metabolism (hey, cool!) and have had maple syrup on my radar–it has always intrigued me by being a source of sugar yet having properties that help balance blood sugar.

Thus, I found this Lemon-Aid product by Detox RX to be a pretty wonderful idea–especially in the way they did it! The lemon is freeze-dried to preserve the healing plant enzymes in the lemon and they use the whole lemon (most of the calcium in citrus is found in the peel).

As the suggest on the label, this powdered mixture does have a bit of a spice to it and is very zesty! So, in my case, I came up with this to consume it as a part of my everyday detox routine:

Ingredients:

-A few teaspoons of the Lemon-Aid powdered mixture

-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

-2 drops of liquid stevia

Instructions:

-Combine all ingredients into 16 ounces of water

I found that since the powder is pungent in itself, it worked for me to couple it with the ACV to take in both robust potions in one swig. The stevia helps take the edge off of the tart lemon and harsh-tasting vinegar.

I’ve experimented with some intermittent fasting in the mornings (consuming only this mixture and no food until about 11am). I didn’t expect it, but I felt immensely energized, lighter and free from bloating and stomach discomfort.

I also particularly love the fact that this a great way to take your detox routine on the road with you. It’s an okay size to pack and will allow you to keep your system going strong: alkaline and clean.

My Thoughts:

I am totally into the notion that our digestive systems are big-time important for overall health for two main reasons:

-Digestion directly effects the immune system

-Efficiency of digestion is vital in helping you retain the nutrients in what you eat

I feel good about the habits I’ve formed that help contribute to my healthy gut. Fermented foods and raw food containing probiotics are two great routes to pamper your digestion.

I can’t tell you how excited I was to see a cold-pressed, raw, organic juice line that harnesses the digestive health-boosting benefits of probiotics in addition to hearty & robust fruits and vegetables. Hello drink wonderment!

I fell in love with Garden of Flavor after reading their mantra: “Nature. We have nothing more to add.” It’s perfect–& it tells me that they have a good head on their shoulders, so to speak, in regards to healthy nutrition. No bogus ingredients, just the good stuff.

Along with my belief in fruits and vegetables, I am a firm proponent that herbs and spices can really have a massive & positive effect on your wellbeing and livelihood. Garden of Flavor includes cinnamon, turmeric, parsley, mint and ginger in their drinks. The Turmeric Tonic they sent me to try had a zippy, light zing to it. What a combination of flavors! The lemon, ginger, mint, turmeric, agave & cayenne made for a complex yet really enjoyable drink.

Whenever I need that extra boost of pep in my stem, or just an overall lively, refreshed feeling, I look to greens. I drink at least one huge jar of homemade, blended green drink every day, but I also value the convenience of having a bottle in the fridge ready to drink. Also, Garden of Flavor adds more goodies to their green drinks that make it an even more power-packed drink. I found the Mean Green to be a big green punch in the face (the best kind) with a zesty lightness from the lemon. The apples and cucumber in the Green Harmony take a little bit of the green edge off, if you find that a big much if you’re new to raw, green juice. Sometimes I just want the greens, no sugary taste, just earthy goodness. In that case, I’d pick the Mean Green. Otherwise, the Green Harmony does the trick. That’s not to say that the Green Harmony is loaded with sugar since it contains the apples–it’s not. You can just tell a tiny bit of difference in the sweet aftertaste.

Garden of Flavor juices offer all of the specs that I look for at this point in my life when I consider nutrition. They’re organic, raw, living, cold-pressed. Basically, they GET IT! They get what the body needs. They’ve bottled it–and they’ve done it well.

Kudos to Garden of Flavor for creating a fresh, health-serving take on the increasingly more common cold-pressed juice. I will be coming back for more! I can’t wait to try all of the other juice combinations.

My Thoughts:

Kevita drinks are a unique division of health drinks, as they focus on boosting digestive health via a low-calorie mixture that is packed with organic ingredients and probiotics. Digestion is an important aspect of your health because without digestive efficacy, our bodies cannot absorb all of the nutrients that we take in. Ingesting probiotics helps to keep your stomach’s healthy bacteria in balance–which in turn helps keep the lining healthy and ready to do it’s job (absorb).

Similar to kombucha (but not quite as effervescent as kombucha), Kevita offers an expansive range of flavors, each of which is interesting, refreshing and tasty in its own right.

These drinks are suitable for individuals who abide by a plethora of diets, as they are vegan, dairy free, lactose free, gluten free and free of added sugar. Those facts make it easy for me to recommend to a wide range of individuals with specific dietary needs.

Quality wise, you can see on their labeling that Kevita drinks are certified organic and non-gmo–two important specs that I look for in all products that I buy frequently. On top of quality, these drinks are easy to find if you have a health food store like Natural Grocers or Whole Foods close to you. You can locate them in close proximity to kombucha and coconut water in most stores that carry it.

Taste wise, these drinks are tasty and light–not as heavy as fruit juice. The “sparkling” characteristic of the drink makes it refreshing and satisfying, though it only contains about 10 calories per serving. I’d urge soda drinkers to give this drink a try. These drinks provide nutrients via organic ingredients, whereas sodas can’t claim anything close to that. My favorites of the bunch are the Mango Coconut and the Tangerine. They are the perfect drinks to pair with your summer activities.

Though the low-calorie feature is nice, I don’t focus on it–especially if the ingredients are organic and nutritionally robust. That said, my suggested improvement with these drinks is for them to contain a few more ingredients that make them closer to a meal in regards to how filling they are. I also wish the flavors were a little bit stronger and more intense (they likely are not because of the low calorie content).

My Thoughts:

I am a huge devotee to juice–I have no problem putting money into quality juices because I believe they are such an excellent, nutrient dense drink. I was happy to discover Evolution juices at my local Whole Foods. I was instantly hooked. The array of flavors that they bottle are exciting and delicious.

I shared the specifics (above) about all of the juices that I have yet to try (there are many more mentioned on the Evolution site). Needless to say, only four of them are pictured at the top.

Some of the juices like Pineapple Cucumber Ginger & Pineapple Coconut Water are less dense than juices like Super Green and Defense Up. In other words, they are a lighter, less filling drink. I enjoy the lighter drinks for pre or post workout replenishment, whereas the dense and rich juices are my favorite about an hour before or after activity, as they’re more like meals.

I have yet to try a juice that I do not like–they’re all unique and spectacularly tasting.

Super Green tastes the best

Organic V & Ruby Roots are the most impressive to me as far as nutritional value goes

Sweet Burn has a unique and pleasant zip of sweetness and kick of heat

Defense Up is a perfect, tangy breakfast juice

Pineapple Coconut Water & Pineapple Cucumber Ginger are my favorite right after a run

Sweet Greens with Lemon is a no-frills, green smack in the mouth. I like it when I am feeling a little bit depleted (after a long run).

The only reason I don’t give these juices 5 stars is because not all of them are entirely organic. Many of them are–and I tend to purchase those the most. I look forward to trying more Evolution flavors and seeing more organic fruits and veggies in the future!
