Life Equals Vitamins

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

About Life Equals:

“At Life Equals, we think vitamins and supplements are like anything: you should love them! If every other product has a guarantee associated with it, why not vitamins and supplements as well?

That’s why all of our products, including our apparel, are a part of our Love Your Health Guarantee. That means, if you have any questions, concerns or issues with any of our Daily Essentials, Specialty Supplements or apparel, we want to hear from you. We’re happy to answer any questions you have, exchange products (well, apparel that is — difficult to exchange an open bottle of vitamins!) or offer a refund up to 60 days after your date of purchase for both our apparel and vitamins. In short, we want you to love your health!
Thanks so much for being a part of our Buy Health Give Health movement where every purchase donates an equal amount of children’s multivitamins to an undernourished child through the Life=Life Project.

Did you know —

In the world today, 2 billion people, or 1 out of every three, lack essential nutrients.

And worldwide, 1 in 3 children die due to undernutiriton. This lack of nutrients is a greater cause of childhood death than AIDS, malaria, and parasitic infections combined.

This crisis facing the world’s children is THE #1 most addressable issue of humanity today.
That is why we started Life Equals, a one-for-one vitamin company. One-for-one? Meaning for every vitamin you buy, we give another children’s multivitamin to undernourished children in 44 countries worldwide and 33 states here in america.”

In regards to the word “organic,” I learned this about Life Equals ingredients:

“Life Equals makes premium quality products by sourcing the best ingredients from quality growers and producers. All of our products have increased bioavailability, improved absorption and are 100% Made in the USA in facilities that exceed FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices.

The LIFE= Prental, Men’s and Women’s Multivitamins all utilize the natural supplementation power of whole foods to increase absorption and make them naturally gentle on the stomach. Life Equals specifically avoids GMO ingredients and is currently seeking Organic certification on their Whole Food Blend to ensure the utmost quality.
LIFE= CoQ10 already utilizes Certified Organic Flaxseed oil as the binder to assist in the absorption of the coenzyme.
LIFE= Vitamin D3 was specifically designed with a non-GMO oil binder to create the cleanest D3 product possible. Seeking Organic Certification will be the next step for this product as well.
It is our mission at Life Equals to bring quality products to the market that not only better the lives of our customers, but the lives of children across the world.  We are striving to expand that holistic commitment to our environment by working towards Organic, non-GMO status for all of our products. Stay tuned to the Life Equals movement as we grow and make our products even better and help more children live healthy, productive lives!”
Life Equals also does a pretty nifty subscription program, where they auto-ship it every month. Every month you get 15% off + free shipping, but your first month you get 75% off the products! It’s no-obligation, cancel any time.

My Thoughts:

Most importantly, this local to Kansas City brand has me impressed and mesmerized by their commitment to provide a dose of nutrients to children in need, all over the world. I was not aware that malnutrition was a cause of so many children’s deaths each year. What a sad reality. I am inspired by the fact that they are making strides to tackle this issue. Thus, when you become a customer of Life Equals, you are helping a child in need get the nutrition their body requires–good things!

I was interested in taking these three supplements because:

1. I believe a good multivitamin can help “cover your bases” in making sure you are getting enough of the vitamins and minerals your body needs to stay healthy. I have been taking a prenatal vitamin for about a year, as suggested by my OBGYN, as I hope to be expecting some time in the semi-near future 🙂

2. Probiotics are important because they promote healthy digestion. Digestion is important because it allows your body to effectively absorb all of the nutrients you are taking in. With poor digestion and a gut that is not full of the necessary bacterias, your body won’t reap all of the benefits of the healthy food you’re eating. Eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables are important to maintaining a healthy gut. Thus, I don’t believe you should take a probiotic hoping that it will outweigh the bad eating you’re doing.

3. CoQ10 is a supplement that I first heard about in trying to discover products that would help clear my hormonal acne. Since your skin is a reflection of your overall health, I figured that incorporating an antioxidant supplement could only help. CoQ10, in Life Equals’ words: “supports a healthy cardiovascular system, slow the effects of age-related diseases, promote healthy gums and aid energy production on a cellular level.” As a strong antioxidant, it essentially does several great things for the body and your overall health.

In regards to quality, these supplements are way above average, with each of the products being free of common allergens:

-Prenatal: free of  yeast, wheat, milk, milk derivatives, lactose, sugar, preservatives, artificial flavor, sodium.

-Probiotic: free of iron, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, milk, egg, preservatives.

-CoQ10: free of yeast, wheat, milk, milk derivatives, lactose, sugar, preservatives, artificial flavor, sodium.

In regards to how I’ve felt taking these supplements: my stomach has never been upset after taking them, my digestion is regular, my overall vitality is up and I’m feeling healthy. I have taken these during the final weeks of my marathon training and found them to be a great, added boost to my daily intake of healthy, nutrient dense meals. I believe that supplements don’t replace nutritious, organic food–but they can give you a bit of an athletic “edge.”

Life Equals uses some ingredients that are organic and non-gmo. I’ve learned that they are making efforts to include more and more certified organic ingredients to insure the quality of their products. I look forward to this transition into a super-high quality line of products. So far, so good–but I look forward to “so great!” I’ve been enjoying rocking my Life Equals T-Shirt and look forward to recommending these supplements to more individuals as the prevalence of organic ingredients increases in their products.

Q & A with UltraRunner Emz Eliason of RunEmz.com

So excited to share the wisdom and thoughts of a woman that I truly admire, look up to, and see as a running sister!

Here are my questions to Emz:

1. You run, a whole bunch. What gets you up in the morning with such tenacity?

I’d say for the most part it is my goals. Even if I don’t have a scheduled race in the near future, I know running for charities is my passion. I always want to know that if I received an opportunity to do a run….that I will be ready [training wise]. The early morning hours are MY time for ME. This may mean I get out of bed at 4:30 but it is always worth it.

2. How is each run different for you?

Although I do all my runs on a treadmill, I do try to make sure that I change it up. Some days I go a little faster, some days I take the incline higher. At least three days a week I try to do my runs without any music or TV. Other days I take it easy & just let the legs go.

3. If you could sum up your approach to running, what would it be?

Just. Freaking. Run.
Who cares about the speed. Get out there.

4. If you could only run in one pair of shoes for the rest of your life…what brand & model?

Love this question. Without a doubt Mizuno Wave Prophecy 3’s.

5. Dream place to run:

New Zealand. Every year we go back to visit family – it reminds me that I do like running outside every now & then. 😜

6. Dream running buddy:

My Instagram friends. Truth. Some of the coolest people ever. I have made some of my closest/dearest friends through social media. I have been fortunate enough to run alongside many of them during one of my 24-hour treadmill runs. As well as having some of them pace me during my trail 100’s. Incredible, inspiring, thoughtful, selfless individuals.

7. Favorite run of your life so far:

Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim run. It was a completely different experience than any ultra I have ever done. No crowds. No cheering. No crew. No run partners. Just me with myself, outside in one of God’s most incredible creations.

8. If you could give nutritional advice to other runners, what would it be?

That quote, “you can’t out train a bad diet”…… It’s the truth. It took me way too long to get this through my thick skull. Running 70-100 miles a week does not give you the right to eat superfluous amounts of crap. I found when I eat bad – I feel like bad. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy carrot cake & pizza with the best of them. And I do ENJOY my treats occasionally. But not daily.

9. Favorite food/meal:

Mexican food. All of it. [sans meat & dairy]. My go to after a long run….Cafe Rio vegetarian salad [tortilla, black beans, all veggies, guacamole, jalapeños, salsa] = my heaven.
My daily staple = vega one vanilla chai protein shake. Holy. Yum.

10. Favorite Athlete:

All the mom’s out there. I know you may call this generic…. But it’s the honest truth. I am so inspired by moms who get up and put in hard amounts of training every day – then rather seamlessly put on their mom, wife and employee hats. It’s incredible to me. I am far more inspired by “average women” than professional female athletes.

11. Your best marital & parenting advice:

Be honest. Express your needs. Communicate. Hang out together. Not a fan of girl’s night or girl’s weekend but I am a huge fan of date night with my man. I choose him every damn day over anything else.

Don’t make your child’s life easy. Teach them how to work hard. Be an example of this.

12. What impression would you hope to leave on those that look up to you?

That I’m not a talented runner. But I put in a lot of work. My parents taught me the value of working hard at a very young age. It has always stuck with me. If you want something. Put in the work. Get after it. Now.

13. Emz’s Life Motto, summed up:

You’ve. Freaking. Got. This.

Train your brain to tell your body you CAN do hard things.

I’ll be sure to keep this post on hand for days when I want an extra dosage of motivation. You ROCK, EMZ!!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me 🙂
