My Experience:

To start off, I want to share that I’ve had a beautiful experience with this brand from day one. I love and respect the hard work that Rebecca and Raymond have put into their brand. Carefree Organics not only boasts an inspiring + awesome name, but they have a thoughtful, unique line of products that truly seem one of a kind.

Also, they’re been generous, helpful and communicative in terms of my interaction with them as a blogger. That shows me that I’m sure they treat their customers with the utmost care, timeliness and consideration. Not every brand is like that, so they stands out to me.

Carefree Organics Review – Stress Spray

Jumping right into the products, I’m absolutely obsessed with the Stress Spray. The combination of the rose water, ylang ylang, bergamot and lavender are such a wonderfully medley for the nasal cavity. It’s truly like a relaxing, deep belly breath of fresh air.

As they suggest, I use this sort of all over! On my face, neck, shoulders as well as our pillows. We’re big on sleep in our house, so anything we can implement to naturally increase the enjoyment/restfulness of our sleep is a great thing to me.

Carefree Organics Review – Ageless: The Everything Serum

I actually noticed right away after using the Ageless: The Everything Serum how my skin was glowing. Sure, it was clearly because of the Marula oil, which provided a shine. But, there was something else. It felt like my skin somehow got caught up on the 128 glasses of water I didn’t drink last year. Haha!

I love the mindfulness that was clearly brought to this product, as they incorporate hyaluronic acid, marula oil and marine collagen in this serum. It’s a recipe for skin hydration, for sure. I’m thinking that with regular use, you can notice some big skin health gains.

Carefree Organics Review – Brow + Lash Serum

I’d never used a serum for hair growth on the brows and lashes before, and I was curious about trying this one. My main apprehension is that I wasn’t sure if applying something to my lash line would make my eyes sting. It actually wasn’t one bit uncomfortable and forgot I had it on (I’ve been applying it about 2 hours before bed).

The ingredients on the Brow + Lash Serum are cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, silicone-free, talc-free, and eco-friendly. That said, I typically look for ingredients that are straightforward, recognizable and/or botanical plant compounds that are familiar to me.

I did a little research on the ingredients in this formula that I was not familiar with, and I can report that they have a rating of 5 or lower on the EWG Skin Deep rating scale.  On their scale, 0-2 indicates a low hazard, and 3-6 indicates a moderate hazard. This is on a scale of 10, with the 7-10 range being high hazard.

I do want to point out that I recognize we all fall at different points on the spectrum in terms of the ingredients we look for. If you are simply looking for cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, silicone-free, talc-free, and eco-friendly, then this product could be a good fit for you.

I’ve only been testing this serum for about 2 weeks; my lashes and brows do seem healthy. It’s hard to say at this point if I’ve noticed growth. However, similar to hair on your hair, it’s not going to grow a ton overnight. With regular & consistent use, I’d imagine you’d see some results.

Carefree Organics Review – Starry Skin Primer

This is a great idea for a product; a primer that lays down an illuminating layer that will sit under your foundation or finishing oil/serum (if you’re not wearing makeup). My preference is to use it as a layer under makeup. It definitely lights up your complexion and gives you a noticeable glow.

Similar to the Brow + Lash Serum, the Starry Skin formulation included a few ingredients that were unfamiliar to me. They sit 4 or lower on the EWG Skin Deep rating scale, similar to the Brow + Lash Serum Ingredients.

I did gain some insight on the Brow + Lash Serum and Starry Skin ingredients, in case you are curious like I was. There two products are part of Carefree’s lab-co created line which varies from their small batch, in house products. The lab they collaborated with uses some ingredients in their formulations that Carefree does not in their other products. These ingredients are slightly more main-stream in the green beauty world.

Would I Recommend?

So, would I recommend these products? I would highly recommend the Stress Spray and Ageless: The Everything Serum. These two products are clean, they boast anti-aging benefits and they leave you feeling calm + hydrated.

The Brow + Lash Serum + Starry Skin are in a different category, in my opinion. I would recommend them as a step in a cleaner direction if you currently use a generic hair growth serum and face primer that contain a long list of toxic ingredients. It all depends on what your barometer is for cleanliness of ingredients.

Also, EWG is not the only source of ingredient information, so I encourage you to do your own research on ingredients that you’re interested in!

So…What am I Supposed to Eat?

When I’m asked for help in regards to nutrition and/or exercise, I have always feared sounding like a know-it-all. Being that way doesn’t feel natural to me. But I also get an overwhelming amount of questions like, “so, what am I supposed to eat?”

Speaking from experience and simply explaining how I do things feels incredibly natural, though. That slight changing of gears (in my mindset & approach) in helping others become the healthiest version of themselves has been huge.

Something I’ve witnessed with folks that are looking to become healthier, lose weight, regain vitality &/or boost energy is….

an overwhelming sense of paralysis due to fear & information overload in regards to food.

What’s good for you? What’s not? But, that website said I shouldn’t eat this? So, should I? Why am I breaking out? Is that my body detoxing? Why am I not losing weight? Do I need to go paleo, vegan, gluten free, dairy free blah, blah, blah, blah? Is low fat good? Or should I limit sugar? What about eating frequently throughout the day? Snacks? Eating late? How much protein do I need? Do I need to buy organic food? What’s the big deal about raw food?

Holy cow.

That’s what I mean. Can you say: Oh-ver-load!

Recent discussions in the food world, especially in healthy-minded communities have reached an all-time high–or at least it seems that way. Perhaps, I’m just more aware of it now because I am completely submerged in this world.

Like ANYTHING else in life. I find that the solution is simple & concise:

Ditch rules. Think: Eat to feel good.

Now, I get that many brains will completely come unwired to that idea. There has to be more to it, many must think. Well, I can break it down a little bit farther for those brains. Here are some things I keep in mind & how I would describe my daily eating choices (I feel the healthiest I’ve ever been in my life)…

27867206_2110137042337728_4381541411246716320_n

How I do it:

-Loads of: plants, superfoods, alkaline-forming foods

-Look to healthy fats & protein for fuel (limit refined sugar–it’s more of a cheap thrill. Too much promotes internal acidity. FRUIT is not in this category. Eat your fruit!)

-When grocery shopping, think: organic, raw, fresh.

-Drink lots of water. Basically as much as you can stand. Water helps everything in your body operate more optimally.

-Appreciate food again. Get excited to eat GOOD FOR YOU food. Don’t rush everything. Savor the subtle flavors of everything.

You might be thinking….so what about the dietary restrictions?

I find that (life is like this, too) when I focus my energy on all of those good things going into my body, I don’t have room for the extra junk. Thus, foods like processed grains, dairy, junk food, soda, other miscellaneous garbage food don’t find their way into my daily nutrition often because there’s no room for them. Does that make sense?

It’s like overwhelming your body with “positive,” good foods (like you overwhelm your mind with postitive thoughts to stay happy), so much so, that you don’t leave any room for the negative stuff that sucks the life out of you. You see, it’s all connected. It’s not diet is one isolated aspect & mindset is another isolated aspect of you. The same mantras can & do apply to every facet of your well being. Just apply them and life just becomes easier. You become healthier. That fog lifts. You end up looking in the mirror one day and feeling like you are becoming little Jesica again. Young, spry, capable, healthful without a care in the world. Well, maybe that’s just me. But MAN, it’s an incredible feeling–hard to describe really. AND it all starts with how you fuel your body and your mentality going into it.

My 8 Day Juice Cleanse

This juice fast, cleanse, detox, or feast (as I’ve heard it also called) has ultimately been a great thing for me for several reasons:

-I generally feel better–no digestion problems, alert, capable, refreshed, and lighter on my feet.
-I have learned that it doesn’t require a massive meal full of grains to feel fueled for a run. Maximum nutrient consumption should be key.
-I feel like I have given my body a “reset” and have avoided getting bored with eating and exercise.

Alot of people have asked for “before and after” juice fast pictures…

I didn’t take a before picture, but I took one on my last day (today–day 8). My goal was not solely to lose weight, but I do enjoy feeling lighter when I run with not as much unecessary weight. I’ve noticed I don’t feel as bloated and my stomach feels flatter and leaner.

If you are considering doing a juice fast, I say go for it! Remember to listen to your body and drink lots of water in addition to the juice!

It’s been neat connecting with individuals on instagram that are equally as enthusiastic about nutrition and juicing. Thanks to everyone who has been open minded and encouraging on this juicing journey!
