Balanced Guru Farm-A-Ceuticals Review

This is a review of the Balanced Guru organic skincare Farm-A-Ceuticals line.

Balanced Guru Organic Body Care Farm-A-Ceuticals

Overall Rating: 5 Stars

It feels really good when I get the opportunity to meet the faces behind the beautiful products I try. At Expo West this year, I met two of the beautiful people behind Balanced Guru and let me tell you, the kindness and genuine enthusiasm that I perceived from working with them before (via e-mail & social media) was ever-present when I met them in person. You can tell that they are adamant and passionate about putting the very best ingredients into their products.

I’ve tried one of their products and reviewed it in the past, their scalp detox treatment; you can read that review here.

My Thoughts:

Their body care line is so sublime, it really only requires a few words to accurately capture the gist of their brand. Here are the important things I’d like to point out about Balanced Guru:

  • Their ingredient lists are organic, top to bottom. No kidding. No messing around.
  • The products perform incredibly well because of that fact. Nature is healing.
  • You won’t find many other lines that are THIS clean & THIS pure.

Balanced Guru is one of the few body care brands that gets carte blanche from me. They could hand me any product, and as long as I know they’ve created it, I trust it. That’s because they have garnered such a great reputation with me for only using the best ingredients. They provided me with a handful of goodies at Expo to try (scrub, energy mists, hair oil) and I was amped. I’m excited to try anything that they make beautifully with their ingredient-conscious minds.

The energy mists I see as an uplifting, energizing alternative to junky perfumes (most perfumes don’t even list the ingredients on them–how scary is that?). I love closing my eyes and spraying it over my face and upper body before a workout. They lift my mood and help me stay fresh-smelling amidst the sweaty grind.

With all the grime that builds up on my skin after a week’s worth of challenging workouts, I really enjoy my time exfoliating because it leaves my skin feeling so fresh and rejuvenated. I try to limit my exfoliating to once a week because I do believe you can do it too much–there’s something to be said about leaving your skin alone sometimes. That said, when I do exfoliate, it’s so nice to be able to reach for a gritty scrub like this one that’s chock full of organic goodness like sugar, coffee and spearmint.

I have a semi-oily scalp but the ends of my hair tend to dry out with frequent shampoos. That’s where a pure hair oil comes in. All it takes is a tiny amount rubbed in between my hands and then through the ends of your tresses to give your hair a quenched look.

I urge you to check out their range of products–they make SO many excellent organic products and their purity is really impressive. Balanced Guru’s line also makes for great gifts!

Annmarie Gianni Earth Mineral Makeup Review

Annmarie Gianni Organic Skin Care: Mineral Makeup

Overall Rating: 5 Stars

About Anne Marie Gianni Mineral Makeup:

“Introducing: Earth Minerals Multi-Purpose Foundation by Annmarie Skin Care and it’s made from mineral powders that provide beautiful, flawless coverage, and don’t harm your skin or health. It’s easily customizable to a variety skin tones, made with just four natural ingredients, and totally free of hormone disruptors, neurotoxins, or carcinogens.”

I have been lucky enough to try some Annmarie Gianni Organic Skin Care product samples in the past and absolutely loved them! I was amazed at the purity of the products & how much my skin loved them. You can check out that review here.

My Thoughts:

This little set-up that they sent me is SO neat. Not only do you feel like you’re creating your own makeup, but the oil provided is pure, moisturizing and soothing to skin.

I’m not a huge make-up wearer, but I do value having an organic foundation that I can apply to my skin to even out my sunspots and redness on the days I work out of the house. The best part about makeup with no crappy ingredients is that I can fall asleep in this makeup and I don’t have a breakout the next day. I do, however, always make a habit of cleaning my face before bed (With a pure, organic oil) so that I’m fresh faced and my skin can breathe overnight.

The tone that these minerals provide (when mixed with the oil) is perfect for my skin. They have just the right amount of a natural glowy look that they do not make your skin look completely matte.

I will say this, my facial skin tends to get very dark during the warm summer months when I am in the sun. For those months, I use the Olive & Honey minerals more, whereas in the winter, the Pearl & Sand minerals are a better fit. I recommend keeping a “batch” of the darker and the lighter foundation mix on hand so that on any given day, you can match your complexion. Generally speaking, if the foundation matches your neck color, it will blend the best and look the most natural (or at least that’s the case with me).

I have had NO issues with skin irritation. I can’t think of a bad thing to about this mineral makeup. Annmarie has a truly beautiful line of skin care products and now clean cosmetics! If you’ve been looking to clean up your skincare and beauty routine, start here.

Hemp Oil

About:

“Hemp seed oil is an emollient which is non-greasy and works perfectly as a moisturizing compound with excellent moisture balancing properties.

Using Hemp seed oil is a great way to achieve soft, smooth and hydrated skin. Hemp seed oil prevents moisture loss on a physiological level and doesn’t merely “coat” the skin as do other oils. It contains the ideal ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 based on our cells needs. Hemp so closely matches our own skins lipids, it is able to penetrate inside our cells and lubricate the surface between them, thus bringing the EFA’s into the body. For this reason EFA’s have been proven to play a preventative role in skin aging and a healthy moisture balance.

Thanks to its high amount of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acids), hemp seed oil has excellent anti-inflammatory qualities. It therefore helps to relieve conditions such as acne, psoriasis and eczema as well as healing skin lesions, balances dry skin and combats skin inflammations.

Hemp is also the only plant oil containing Vitamin D, which is necessary for Calcium absorption and especially useful to vegans. Hemp seed oil contains 57% linoleic (LA) and 19% linolenic (LNA) acids and antioxidants in the form of vitamin E and carotene. Phytosterols, phospholipids, as well as a number of minerals, including calcium, magnesium, sulphur, potassium and phosphorus are also found in the oil.”

Moroccan Lava Clay Mask:

About:

“Sourced from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, Moroccan Lava clay has been used for hundreds of years as a natural beautifier.

Moroccan Lava Clay is a light brown clay with wonderful exfoliating, cleansing and detoxifying properties. It has a remarkable ability to draw out excess oils and impurities from deep within the skin thanks to its high levels of “ion exchange”.

It is also highly nourishing for the skin thanks to its high mineral content and unique composition including Silica, Magnesium, Potassium and Calcium.

Because Moroccan Lava clay has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-microbial and antiseptic qualities, it is a great skin cleanser and can be use daily as a face wash. The regular use of Rhassoul clay may also help to improve the appearance of skin troubled by Eczema, Psoriasis, Acne and Rosacea.

Studies have shown that Rhassoul helps to:

  • improve skin texture
  • reduce dryness and flakiness
  • improve skin elasticity and firmness, and
  • Remove dead skin layers, therefore leaving the skin nice and smooth.

Because of its amazing qualities it is not surprising that Rhassoul clay is used by prestigious spas and loved by people from all over the world.

Directions for use

a) Blend one to two teaspoons of Rhassoul clay and enough water (or floral water) to make a creamy face mask. Wash face with warm water and apply the mask. Do not let the mask dry out so apply a moistened cloth or sponge over the face to keep the mask damp. Leave for about 5 to 10 minutes (but no longer than that). If the skin looks inflamed after the first application, don’t worry, this is just a detox symptom and a good sign! Apply the mask once a week.

b) As a face/body wash: Mix one to two teaspoons of clay with water, to form a mixture similar in consistency to liquid soap. Apply the prepared clay to the wet face/body. Massage the area covered by clay for a few minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

Ingredients:
 Sun-dried Moroccan Lava clay only.
70g.”

My Thoughts:

I can’t say enough positive things about Raw Gaia skin care. I’m pretty sure I fell in love with these products before I ever received them in the mail. Truly organic & pure skin care is so refreshing and exciting to me. Your skin can thrive if you give it nutrients straight from nature. I love that Raw Gaia obviously believes this as well.

Though I have used hemp oil on and off for a few years as a dietary supplement (in smoothies & shakes as a healthy source of fat), this is the first time I’ve used it as a facial oil (moisturizer). I require no “selling” in terms of why hemp is a great choice for health. I’m completely on board with this superfood. It’s a readymade healer for both the inside and outside of the body–and I couldn’t wait to try it on my skin. The verdict is: my skin all but sang when I applied it for the first time. There’s such a delicate balance of trying to find an oil that soaks into skin well, keeps it moist & nourished, but also doesn’t leave skin feeling goopy. Often times, when you get your hands on the real stuff (organic, raw & pure), all of those issues go away–it works magically on skin & soaks in just right. It also helps to balance my skin’s oil production.

After many years of washing my face morning and night, I have (in the last 6 months or so) started keeping it to once a day. In the morning, I simply mist my face with water + essential oils (filtered water + peppermint + rosemary + tea tree + lavender essential oils), but do not wash it off. In the evening after I’ve worked out, I wash my face with an organic cleanser and follow up with a fairly generous amount of facial oil. There’s an incredibly good feeling using products that are pure as can be. This way, I simply never have to worry about the ingredients being questionable–and I can rest assured that my skin’s health will reflect that.

I use this clay mask by pouring a small amount into my hand + a few drops of water to make a paste. I have a handy little paintbrush-looking mask application brush that I use to apply it to my entire face (minus the eye sockets). I leave it on until it gets dry (about 5-10 min) and then use it as an exfoliant as I wash it off in the shower. 5-10 minutes might sound like a long time–here’s what I do: apply it, take your time and make a green drink or smoothie, then by the time I’m headed back to the shower with my drink, the mask is ready to wash off (and then I drink my green drink in the shower (the ultimate!) :).

Tell me you don’t get excited knowing that Raw Gaia makes even more organic, cold pressed oils?! Jojoba, reshape, etc. These products would make an incredible gift to your loved ones, and for yourself, alike!

She also just so happens to make one of my very favorite lines of skin care (in my top 2!). Here are a couple other posts I’ve written on TastyFace products:

My Thoughts:

I truly began to laugh to myself in beginning to write another piece on Tastyface. Why am I laughing? Because this could be a 4 word review: “Tastyface Organics freaking rocks!”

Let me just say, I have tried many brands of organic skin care (most of them not actually containing entirely organic ingredients–which in my opinion is an abuse of the word “organic”) and it is rare to find product lines:

1. Made in small batches.

2. Headed by an engaged, warm founder that is eager to help.

3. Is comprised of 100% organic ingredients.

No bull honkey. No tomfoolery. No bogus promises. TastyFace is the REAL deal.

As the name suggests, these products are incredible aromatic, intoxicating and the ingredients are good enough to eat. Kelly truly abides by the idea of “if you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it onto your skin.”

Now for the these new products I got to try! These two serums are like summer dreams in a bottle. Not only are the ingredients organic and pure (as always, with Tastyface) but they soak into my skin perfectly. If you’re new to facial serums, don’t be afraid! Even if you have oily skin, nature’s oils are and should be your friend. Damaged skin needs moisture; it shouldn’t be deprived of it. Investing in a bottle of Tastyface serum will do so much more good for your skin than ANY bottle of chemical-filled acne-fighting cream. Chemicals don’t solve imbalances, organic skin care & a healthy diet do.

If I had to pick one of the two serums, I’d say the Tamanu + Grapefruit is my favorite. When I was in college a few years ago, Tamanu oil was one of the very first natural remedies I began to use on my blemished skin. I noticed the health of skin improving almost immediately. It felt better, I was more evenly complected and my skin just stopped freaking the bleep out. Tamanu oil might sound foreign, but your skin will love it.

The sweet orange lip balm was a product that our 6 year old was eyeing. She said “Ohhh orange cream!” It gives me so much peace of mind knowing that we have an organic lip balm for her that she loves. So many sticks of lip balm are riddled with junk. No junk here, just pure, sweet orange goodness. I was lucky that she was willing to share it with me so I could try it 🙂 This balm, along with the lemon rosemary balm by Tastyface is a balm recipe perfected. It’s the ideal consistency–soaks into your lips just enough but keeps them moist. It seems like so many lip balms with a cheap base ingredient don’t hang around on your skin for long (same for cheap, junky lotion), you apply it and then your skin is dry again in 10 minutes. I don’t have that problem with these lip balms. They rock!

It’s a good thing that my husband doesn’t regularly use body butter, because blood orange is his favorite! Blood orange kombucha, blood orange sparkling drinks–blood orange everything. This body butter is such a treat. These scent combinations that Kelly has come up with are simply brilliant. Blood Orange + Vanilla is a sublime coupling. Like in using body oils, I like to use this body butter right after showering, when my skin is still a bit damp. The water droplets help the body butter spread onto skin more easily (it also allows you to use less–so it will last longer!). It gives skin the perfect quench and such a pleasant smell. It’s SO redundant, but seriously, with every TastyFace product I try, I think: “Yep, Kelly has done it again–perfectly.”

If you haven’t read any of this review until right now, what I want you to leave with is the notion that you need to check out Tastyface!
