Ginger Peach

About:

“Our rendition of America’s favorite flavored black tea is an elegant and authentic twist on the conventional. We handcraft this tea on a premium blend of two full leaf black teas, which gives added dimension to the peach flavor and the depth needed to provide the perfect balance to the real organic ginger root. Cold Buster

About:

“Back in time for cold & flu season, is our caffeine-free immunity blend to relieve stress and promote health. Our Cold Buster with Tulsi Leaf, aka holy basil, is based on a recipe for a natural cold cure from Europe. This rooibos-based tea is packed with an array of healthy constituents to help warm and fortify you from inside. High in Vitamin C, with lemon and orange peel, hibiscus and rose hips, it also contains herbs and Tulsi to soothe cold symptoms and control coughs.”

Grasshopper Green

About:

“This refreshing blend consists of peppermint and Hojicha, a roasted Japanese green tea. Chocolate mint grasshopper confections capture the essence of this tea. There’s no flavoring involved, but the peppermint leaves pull chocolate notes from the roasted tea resulting in a guilt-free decadent taste and aroma. Hojicha is naturally lower in caffeine than other green teas, while peppermint aids with muscle relaxation and digestion. Together they create a crisp body that is relaxing when hot and refreshing when iced. This brews into a clean, amber liquor with an inviting smell. The roasted green tea creates a nutty base that is brightened by the vibrant peppermint leaves.”

Big Chill

About:

“This mouthwatering hibiscus mint blend is the large leaf version of Chill Out, now available in bulk! It’s truly amazing made either hot or iced. It can also cold brew within just 10 minutes – made easy with Steep & Chill or Steep & Go! The tart hibiscus petals are sweetened with licorice root while peppermint adds a refreshing lift to this well-rounded, full-bodied brew. Naturally caffeine-free, the Big Chill offers a great way to stay hydrated any time of day!”

My Thoughts:

I am a seasoned, enthusiastic coffee drinker, but have only recently really gotten into tea as the occasional substitute to my coffee habit. I was stoked to hear from The Tea Spot thru Instagram and though I loved the sound of their teas, the Tea Tumbler REALLY got my attention–it’s such a cool way to take tea on-the-go in a glass + stainless steel container. You can get one for yourself here. They come in several other colors–which make awesome gifts for your favorite tea drinker (or non-tea-drinker-that-you-convert).

In regards to the teas, I find myself reading the ingredients in the blends and getting excited for what they’ve put together. There are some really delicious flavor combinations and many that are caffeine free–which I find is perfect to drink at nighttime before bed.

I have created my own hibiscus + peppermint duo at home before, so was stoked to see that the Big Chill celebrates those two flavors. It’s my favorite of the bunch as a caffeine free option. For a caffeination kick, the Ginger Peach is my favorite–as I could drink peach tea until I’m blue in the face.

All of the other blends are awesome and provide their own set of health perks–pretty much all of them boosting detoxifying effects on the body. Who doesn’t want/need that? Each of them has their own set of flavor characteristics–& when you’re shopping for you perfect tea on their site, check out their descriptions. They do a great job of breaking each tea down for you to help you decipher which one suites you best.

It feels good to drink something tasty and feel how positively it impacts my body. When I am drinking herbal tea regularly, I can definitely tell that my energy is sustained throughout the day, my skin is happy & glowing and my digestion is soothed and regulated.

Not all of the teas they sent me appear to be organic, but on their site there is a plentiful amount of organic options (even a Chocolate “O” Tea–whoa!).

I’m amped to have discovered this brand–what a good find!

EZC Pak Immune Support Supplement Review

This is a review of the EZC Pak immune support supplement.

EZC Pak

Overall Rating: 2 Stars

About EZC Pak:

“The EZC Pak is a 5-day tapered immune support pack designed by Sarath Malepati, MD, a California physician and Medical Director of the PPC Group, a health product design team.

Over the past decade, Dr. Malepati has come to manage an increasingly larger number of patients requiring hospitalization from ‘superbug’ infections such as MRSA and Clostridium difficile (C. diff) colitis. In the case of C. diff colitis, C. diff is a normal bacteria in the gut that can overgrow and cause serious, aggressive colon infections when the normal gut flora environment is compromised. This generally occurs during antibiotic exposure for unrelated infections. C. diff colitis is what is termed an iatrogenic disease—illness caused by medical examination or treatment. There are now 29,000 deaths a year in the US from C. diff infections, a disease that’s incidence can be significantly reduced by improved hand hygiene measures and more conservative antibiotic use.”

My Thoughts:

Antibiotics, like many pharmaceutical “fixes” for ailments, are far too often looked to in order to treat the body. Prevention should be the first focus and then natural, holistic treatments should be used as needed. By the way, isn’t that a pretty alarming bit of info that EZC pack provides (shown above)?

Before trying, I liked that it seemed the ECZ Pak is a little bit of prevention and a little bit of natural treatment in one. It contains vitamin C, zinc and organic echinacea as the ingredients to help boost immune function.

I’ve gotten away from vitamin and mineral powders that are not whole-food based, because I believe them to be harder for the body to recognize and actually utilize. Because I’m mindful of that, I wonder just how much of these vitamin C & zinc doses by body is able to assimilate and use to boost immune capacity. I’d much rather see whole-food based supplements that have naturally occurring levels of vitamins and minerals, rather than isolated powders.

Here’s one of the biggest hold-ups I have here. This product is made by a pharmaceutical company. That brings on flashing lights and red flags for me. I am all about natural healing, so it puzzles me that this would be made by a drug company. It makes me doubt the absorbability, purity & quality of the vitamins & minerals used.

As far as usage, I found that I struggled with some stomach discomfort after taking these supplements. I am familiar enough with how my body reacts to food that I eventually figured out that the discomfort was caused by this supplement. That was a bummer! I was hoping to feel healthier. I do things every day to help my body facilitate detox, but haven’t experienced a pain like that from a natural healing method.

Upon first label reading, I really liked seeing the organic echinacea in the product. Also, it doesn’t appear to contain any outlandish, crazy ingredients that I don’t recognize. Thus, I would say that this supplement is superior to other treatment methods that are artificial and drug-based.

All-in-all, I would much rather take an organic echinacea supplement along with my daily whole-food based multivitamin to help prepare my body to tell with whatever may ail me. I’m always interested in the most natural way to do that, and I try to stay far away from the pharmaceutical companies.

My Thoughts:

My experience with herbal face food has been interesting. The first time I tried this serum (after cleansing), I distributed about a dime size of the serum onto my face and……WHOA. Major stinging and irritation. I was so confused. Well, I quickly learned a few things:

-I hadn’t read the FAQ section of their site to realize that this stoning sensation can occur.

-The ingredients contain clove oil (which I assume is similar to cinnamon–which leaves the same stinging sensation on the face, due to the fact that it brings blood to the surface of skin and rejuvenates it.)

-You do, indeed, need to shake up the mixture before using it. This will help equally distribute the oils.

So, the initial use was my own fault. I was ill-equipped (information wise) and I think I used too much. Synergies for Health also states that the stinging will be more intense for skin that needs the boost. I didn’t realize my skin needed it that bad–but I’m willing to accept that 🙂

The next few times I used this serum, I shook the bottle, only rubbed a few drops into my fingertips and then applied to my wet facial skin. This time, MUCH better. There is still a slight zing from this serum, but not painful at all. It feels nice and refreshing, actually.

The best part about this serum is the awesomely, entirely organic ingredients list. This stuff is truly pure. Ingredient-wise, this is a dream serum. Performance wise, it’s a dream serum as well. It feels like it helps balance the oil on my skin, and soothes blemishes if I have them. It feels like this serum does a whole lot of good to my skin, sans chemicals and junky ingredients.

I’d recommend this to someone looking for the real deal facial serum. This stuff is potent (and should be used as they suggest), but it performs wonderfully when done right. My skin feels boosted and glowy every time after using this herbal face food.

Garden of Life Wild Rose Detox & Raw Fit Review

Garden of Life

Overall Rating: images

I have done several reviews and giveaways on Garden of Life products and believe they create high quality, organic supplements.

If you are submerged in the world of health products, you’ve likely heard about the scrutiny that Garden of Life has been under in regards to their products containing heavy metals. My brief  response (just to address it)–as dismissive as it may be, is that when you’re on the top, many will try to knock you down. I feel a bit that way with this GOL situation. As a successful brand, it does not surprise me that they have individuals who are seeking to find flaws. That said, I do not know the specific, scientific data from the tests that were run on their products, but I would venture to say that these supplements are still worlds better than most.

  • Promotes healthy and comfortable digestion and elimination with live probiotics and enzymes†.”

My Thoughts:

I used Raw Fit and Raw Meal both for about a 6 month period in 2013 because I found that it was hard to find a protein that’s organic, non-gmo and free of common food allergens (like dairy, gluten, soy). In 2014 so far, I’ve seen the biggest strides in my running performance and overall healthful feeling from omitting grains. Because of this, I haven’t been incorporating brown-rice based proteins like this GOL Raw Fit product. This is a more “paleo” way of eating and I’ve found that I feel my best when I stick to it. So, instead of brown-rice proteins, I’ve been using organic whey and hemp based proteins.

I realize that everyone is different, and many of you are likely vegans. For that group of people, I see the appeal for using GOL brown rice protein, as it’s a plant based source of protein that is satisfying and abides by the vegan way of eating. For paleo-eaters similar to myself, I’d recommend listening to you body and trying to figure out when you feel your best. Is it when you omit certain foods like dairy and grains and increasing your intake of fresh, raw fruits and vegetables? That’s been the case for me.

All of that said, this protein tastes wonderful, is high quality and I think is a great recommendation for many individuals. I am an avid coffee drinker and have been a Marley Coffee fan long before GOL collaborated with them to create this product. Their coffee is USDA organic and is delicious & rich (the roasts are also named after Bob Marley songs–so awesome!). You can check out Marley Coffee products here.

Wild Rose Herbal Detox

About:

“For over 25 years, the Wild Rose Herbal D-Tox Program has been the leader in providing a complete detoxification of the liver, colon, kidneys and lymphatic system in Canada. Now, thanks to Garden of Life, this amazing cleanse program is available to you. By following the recommended diet and taking the herbal formulas provided, the Wild Rose Herbal D-Tox Program helps promote a healthy balance between assimilation and elimination.†

For many, a new detox is the beginning of a new lifestyle, and a time for breaking unwanted habits.† Whether to stay in good health, to support a specific health goal, or to use after over-consumption, a detoxification program can be an integral part of your personal approach to maintain overall health.”

My Thoughts:

I’m all about making detoxification a part of my every day life. Detoxing don’t have to mean implementing a product like this, but occasionally its a great, extra boost. Some great every day habits for detoxing are thinking blended greens (not juiced), fresh fruit and vegetable juices and drinking citrus-infused water.

I was impressed with the list of herbs that this GOL Detox contains, as many of them are naturally potent liver detoxifiers.

I think a common misconception with detoxing is that you are going to feel this instant WHOA! I FEEL CLEANSED! In reality, it’s not like that. If you pay attention to how your body feels daily, though, you will notice that you have a bit more energy, you don’t have digestive issues (bloating, stomach aches. constipation) when you do a detox like this. Those are the main things I noticed.

I would recommend this cleanse to anyone that has not done an herbal detox before. This detox can also help those that suffer from acne–as many acne problems are a result of a liver that is not functioning optimally.

These herbs are different than other detoxes that just use fiber to clear out your digestive tract. You’ll love the slight boost it gives you–you’ll feel cleaner and clearer, inside and out.

Annmarie Gianni Skin Care Review

Annmarie Gianni Skin Care

Overall Rating: 5 Stars

About Ann Marie Gianni Skin Care:

“Annmarie Gianni is an internationally known author, health advocate, personality and founder of Annmarie Gianni Skin Care.

Just a few years ago, Annmarie started to take a hard look at the products she was putting on her skin. In just a few short days of research, what she found shocked her.

Skin care products were severely under-regulated and most contained ingredients that weren’t safe at almost any amount. Even products that claimed they were organic or natural had hidden preservatives and other nasty additives.

She was frustrated and motivated to find a better option, because she realized so many people were using these supposedly “natural” products.

What she found was not encouraging. Many of the truly natural products weren’t up to her standards of quality or effectiveness.

It wasn’t long until she realized that if she wanted to have a truly clean and natural skin care line, she would have to do it herself.

So she did and Annmarie Gianni Skin Care was founded to provide a clean, natural skin care experience using natural, organic and wildcrafted ingredients.

Annmarie now spends her time educating audiences around the United States about how to preserve your beauty and longevity from the inside out as well as what to look for when you’re searching for a skin care line that will keep your skin glowing and vibrant. She can be seen as a regular co-host on the popular online health show “The Renegade Health Show” at www.RenegadeHealth.com.

Annmarie has also trained as a massage therapist, athletic trainer and has run a successful personal training business in Fairfield County, Connecticut.

Currently Annmarie and her husband and author Kevin are living in an RV and traveling the United States spreading the word of good health and good skin care. When she’s not being a business woman, training others, or hosting her weekly internet show, Annmarie enjoys traveling, being outside and preparing healthy meals. She loves to hike and run in the woods, and spend time with her cat Jonny 5.”

As you can see in the photo, Annmarie provided me with a wide range of samples to try–incredibly generous! This is one of those reviews that is very easy for me to write because to put it simply: “I approve.” These products are obviously thought out, have pure & organic ingredients and are created by a passionate individual.

I want to take a slightly different approach to writing this review….and give more of an overall picture and summary of the products, rather than depicting each one. That way, the “This product is great!” comments of mine don’t get redundant! 🙂

Here is a list of the products that I sampled:

thumbnail.asp-2

Citrus Mint Facial Cleanser

thumbnail.asp

Aloe-Herb Cleanser

thumbnail.asp-3

Ayurvedic Facial Scrub

thumbnail.asp-4

Repair Serum

thumbnail.asp-5

Purifying Mud Mask

thumbnail.asp-6

Herbal Facial Oil

thumbnail.asp-7

Coconut Honey Mask

thumbnail.asp-8

Neroli Toning Mist

I truly felt like every single one of these products was a treat to use. Even better was reading the ingredient lists and knowing that I’m putting good things onto my skin! For example, here is the ingredient list for the Citrus Mint Facial Cleanser:

“Ingredients:

Love, Herb-Infused Organic Aloe Vera Gel (Organic Aloe vera, Organic Lavender flowers, Organic Lemon balm leaves, Organic Neem leaves, Organic Rosemary leaves, Organic Echinacea flowers, Organic Life Everlasting flowers, Organic Calendula flowers, Organic Comfrey leaves, Organic Plantain leaves, Organic Malva flowers); Saponified olive oil; Witch Hazel Distillate; Vegetable glycerin; Aspen bark extract; Xanthan gum; Organic Lemon oil; Organic Rosemary oil; Organic Lemon myrtle oil; Organic Peppermint oil. pH 5.5.”

I don’t have anything critical to say about it. I’m thoroughly impressed with Annmarie and these products. It’s truly one great product after the next.

Something that I have been extra cognizant of lately is the pH of the skin care I’m using. This is important because products that impact your skin’s pH too much can cause problems like eczema, acne and/or dry skin. I love that Annmarie mentions the pH and it is very close to the pH that our skin is normally at (approximately 5.5 on the pH scale).

I would recommend this line of products to anyone! I believe that acne sufferers will benefit from these products the most. Cleansing once a day and following up with the facial oils or serums each evening has worked well for me. I do one of the masks once a week for an extra skin detox. The neroli mist was great for a post-workout skin spritz (when I didn’t want to cleanse my face, but wanted a little pick-me-up). The lavender flowers that were enclosed were an extra treat (lavender has a calming and soothing affect on the skin & body). I brewed it with peppermint leaves and drank it as a tea. It was fresh, flowery and delicious.
