Gr3en Organic Energy Drink Review

Gr3en Energy Drink

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

About Gr3en:

“GR3EN is Pure. Organic. Power. Our philosophy is simple: supercharge with superfoods. Powered by green tea, coconut water, and kale, GR3EN gives a clean energy boost you can feel. It’s the perfect pick-me-up when you first wake up, need a lift, hit the gym, or hit the wall at work.

GR3EN has the caffeine equivalent of a cup of coffee, but combines the health benefits of coconut water, green tea and kale juice in one can.

GREEN TEA

The original caffeinated beverage. Traditional Chinese medicine links green tea to many health benefits. It’s been used to boost energy and focus, rev up metabolism, relieve headaches, and much more.

COCONUT WATER

A healthy, natural source of hydration that’s been popular in the tropics for centuries. Loaded with micronutrients, enzymes, and essential electrolytes, the water of young green coconuts is often referred to as nature’s ultimate sports drink.

KALE (KING OF GREENS)

Kale may seem like a hot new trend, but it actually dates back to the Middle Ages in Europe. It’s a powerful antioxidant loaded with too much good stuff to list. Just GOOGLE kale and see what you come up with…the hype is real.

CARBONATED KALE?

We’ll be honest, people don’t know what to expect when we say “carbonated kale”. But, they are pleasantly surprised when they take a sip. GR3EN is a refreshing lightly carbonated organic beverage that infuses coconut water and green tea with kale so your taste buds aren’t overpowered by the flavor of kale. We did many taste tests to get GR3EN just right.

My Thoughts:

In the world of energy drinks, these are pretty much the bomb-diggity. I say this because they have a very clean ingredient list, they’re certified organic and they utilize healthy superfoods like green tea, coconut water and kale. They’re not full of toxic junk, rather they actually pack a nutrient punch along with the (naturally occurring) caffeine content.

I found these Gr3en drinks to have an interesting and enjoyable flavor. They are like a zippy, zesty soda with a coconutty, green twist. The flavor actually really works!

My little issues with the drinks are that they list “natural flavors” (what’s that?) and they contain about 15g of sugar per drink. This is handy if I am mid-marathon and need quick fuel via sugar. However, on a day to day basis, I aim to limit sugar. Thus, these drinks would not be my go-to. I would rather reach for a low-in-sugar green juice.

To sum up my thoughts: these Gr3en energy drinks are an excellent upgrade and alternative to traditional energy drinks–there’s truly no comparison. So, if you’re looking for a quick boost or electrolyte replenishment, I’d say give these drinks a go!

My Thoughts:

I am totally into the notion that our digestive systems are big-time important for overall health for two main reasons:

-Digestion directly effects the immune system

-Efficiency of digestion is vital in helping you retain the nutrients in what you eat

I feel good about the habits I’ve formed that help contribute to my healthy gut. Fermented foods and raw food containing probiotics are two great routes to pamper your digestion.

I can’t tell you how excited I was to see a cold-pressed, raw, organic juice line that harnesses the digestive health-boosting benefits of probiotics in addition to hearty & robust fruits and vegetables. Hello drink wonderment!

I fell in love with Garden of Flavor after reading their mantra: “Nature. We have nothing more to add.” It’s perfect–& it tells me that they have a good head on their shoulders, so to speak, in regards to healthy nutrition. No bogus ingredients, just the good stuff.

Along with my belief in fruits and vegetables, I am a firm proponent that herbs and spices can really have a massive & positive effect on your wellbeing and livelihood. Garden of Flavor includes cinnamon, turmeric, parsley, mint and ginger in their drinks. The Turmeric Tonic they sent me to try had a zippy, light zing to it. What a combination of flavors! The lemon, ginger, mint, turmeric, agave & cayenne made for a complex yet really enjoyable drink.

Whenever I need that extra boost of pep in my stem, or just an overall lively, refreshed feeling, I look to greens. I drink at least one huge jar of homemade, blended green drink every day, but I also value the convenience of having a bottle in the fridge ready to drink. Also, Garden of Flavor adds more goodies to their green drinks that make it an even more power-packed drink. I found the Mean Green to be a big green punch in the face (the best kind) with a zesty lightness from the lemon. The apples and cucumber in the Green Harmony take a little bit of the green edge off, if you find that a big much if you’re new to raw, green juice. Sometimes I just want the greens, no sugary taste, just earthy goodness. In that case, I’d pick the Mean Green. Otherwise, the Green Harmony does the trick. That’s not to say that the Green Harmony is loaded with sugar since it contains the apples–it’s not. You can just tell a tiny bit of difference in the sweet aftertaste.

Garden of Flavor juices offer all of the specs that I look for at this point in my life when I consider nutrition. They’re organic, raw, living, cold-pressed. Basically, they GET IT! They get what the body needs. They’ve bottled it–and they’ve done it well.

Kudos to Garden of Flavor for creating a fresh, health-serving take on the increasingly more common cold-pressed juice. I will be coming back for more! I can’t wait to try all of the other juice combinations.

ChristinasStory

Christina’s Story:

“My journey began when I was in the prime of my life, finishing years of university, getting married and starting my career. Suddenly, my vision blurred and I was seeing double. One eye went wall-eyed and I couldn’t see. If I tried to open my eyes I would fall over with dizziness. This introduced me to the medical system, and ultimately was sent to a “specialist” who diagnosed me with multiple sclerosis. Six months later, 4 ½ months pregnant, and still reeling from my last diagnosis, I was dealt another blow, I had thyroid cancer. In my fifth month of pregnancy, I underwent major surgery to completely remove my thyroid, and soon after, I was radiated. That’s when I found out that the cancer had spread to my lungs. Another radiation treatment, six months later made me very ill, but the results were the same. The cancer tumors were still the same size, at stage 4 and I was sent home to “wait it out” with cancer and MS.

I began taking an immune suppressant drug to help decrease the effects of the MS. After struggling a month to inject myself, and suffering with side effects, I was informed that the drug company would not allow me to take this drug because I had cancer too. What a waste of time, money, and added stress.

At age 26, I had been poked and prodded long enough. It became apparent that something was clearly wrong with the chemistry of my body. I decided to take my health into my own hands! I attended a health seminar about enzymes, probiotics, and raw foods, and I decided that I would try to heal myself. I made up my mind that I would heal and then I would use my story to inspire others too. My husband and I, and baby Antonio committed to changing our lifestyles and eating habits. We discarded every food from our cupboards, and replaced all of it with only raw organics foods. Then, our diet consisted of fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts, seeds, oils, and top quality enzymes, probiotics, and other raw supplements.

The first few days and weeks of our new lifestyle proved very challenging. While my body detoxified, I experienced severe migraines, fever, and blurred vision. Twenty six years of processed and chemically laden foods finally came out of my body. I shed a pound a day and within 3 weeks of adapting to this new lifestyle, scar tissue began healing. Amazingly, I no longer required my prescription glasses.

For the last ten years, I have not required any subsequent medical procedures for either disease. Against all odds, I am still thriving. We even had another healthy child Giulia, who is now 7 years old. I attribute my recovery to my new lifestyle, food choices, and pro-active care. Today, my diet consists of at least 50% raw food, with all else as a secondary. drinkmeTM Beverages are an integral part of my day. I visit an endocrinologist yearly and thankfully, everything is normal. I have never felt better in my life, and I am committed to helping others.

A quote that influenced me, is…. “The only thing I drank was a cup of reality, with a shot of appreciation.”– Kermit the Frog.

The truth is, sometimes one has to hit rock bottom before one can bounce back. I am truly grateful for the life journey that I have been through the past ten years. When I hear people say, “I’m sorry for all that you have been through”, I respond, “don’t be sorry…it’s the best thing that has ever happened to me!”

My Thoughts:

If you’re on the hunt for a raw, organic, cold-pressed juice, you’re likely to come across a handful of brands that are accessible at your local health food store. Many of them are great options and are highly nutritious.

What sets DrinkMe beverages apart from the world of juices is that these drinks are BLENDED, not JUICED. Thus, the naturally occurring fiber in the fruits and veggies used is intact in every bottle of DrinkMe. This makes each bottle more satisfying, more detoxifying and more in line with how nature intended us to consume it.

On top of the fact that these drinks are fiber rich, they are also entirely organic, raw and nutritionally rich. There are fewer ways to ingest such a hearty dose of healing nutrients in a short amount of time. A bottle of DrinkMe is ideal to grab on your way to work, with lunch or for a quick energy boost.

The frozen smoothie packs are an excellent way to store a healthy meal in your work’s freezer, or simply keep at home for a quick whip-up. The flavor of them is so fresh and delicious that I didn’t need to mix them with anything. I just let them thaw a bit before I drank them. Refreshing and delicious!

My experience with DrinkMe has been nothing short of spectacular. Christina is so generous, passionate, kind–and I absolutely believe in the products that she has created. My local Whole Foods has these products, making it easy for me to re-stock on them. For you guys and gals, DrinkMe makes it easy to find a store near you that carries DrinkMe. I’d recommend these to anyone looking to make a great, daily investment in your health. These drinks can help take your nutrition to the next level!

SuperEats Non-GMO Kale & Chia Chips Review

SuperEats Kale Chips

Overall Rating: 3.5 STARS

About SuperEats:

“We (Aaron & Charlie; nice to meet you!) have always liked snacking. When Aaron’s dad had a very close call after getting blind-sided with heart disease, his father wisely started focusing more on healthy eating. This hit close to home and we followed suit. It was a wake up call and was time to put our snacking habits under the microscope as well. We were eating healthy breakfasts, lunches and dinners but we still ate unhealthy snacks; in particular chips. Why? Because chips are delicious and there were NO healthy options. Chips have the perfect texture, flavor and crunch. So why hadn’t anyone made a truly healthy one?

We set out to create a chip packed with nutritional value and amazing taste. That is a rare combination in snacks these days. We needed the perfect texture, a chip strong enough to dip, amazing taste, and nutrition that you can see. We decided to start with kale and chia seeds to ensure there were no empty calories. After a lot of research and development, this healthy green chip is what we came up with! (Aaron’s dad is now in good health and munching on our chips regularly.)

So you want to know more about SuperEats…

They Are Tastier than Junk Food.

Snacking was a hobby for us.  We wanted to be healthy – but carrot sticks and dehydrated kale just weren’t doing it for us. We liked chips. Our chefs spent many sleepless nights perfecting the SuperEats recipe for a Kale + Chia chip to win over the most critical, demanding, junk food-eating taste testers.

We Achieved the Healthy Snack Bucket List.

We like to know what is in our food and we don’t want ingredients that were invented in a laboratory.  That is why all SuperEats foods are natural, gluten-free, non-GMO, kosher, vegan, paleo-friendly, vegetarian-friendly, etc. You get the point.

SuperEats are Packed with the Good Stuff.

We were sick of simply avoiding the bad stuff in our snacking, so we created a chip that not only avoids the bad stuff, but actually gives your body what it needs. Our chips are stuffed with the antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins of kale, along with the fiber, protein, energy and Omega-3 fatty acids of chia. Your body will thank you for eating our chips. Perfect compliment to any meal or stand great alone.

We hope you like our chips and please feel free to reach out to us! We’d love to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Aaron & Charlie, Co-Founders.”

My Thoughts:

These chips are super tasty super eats (hehe). They really taste delicious and could easily replace mine and anyone else’s over-processed, junk-filled chip habit. Each of these flavors (sea salt, cheddar, chili lime, tomato basil) are uniquely delicious, respectively. Even the subtle flavor of the sea salt chips is hearty and pleasant enough to consume by themselves. I enjoyed the cheddar flavor the best out of these 4 flavors.

These kale & chia chips are the perfect healthy pairing to go along with hummus, or other nutrient dense dips. They also make the perfect on the go snack that you can keep in your locker, purse, backpack, car or lunchbox. Unlike generic potato chips, these chips will actually provide you with nutrients while tackling your craving for something salty and crunchy. Also, they are in a category of their own in regards to chips. They aren’t leafy, seasoned, baked kale leaves and they aren’t potato chips. They are a hybrid of the two, if you will. I love the idea!

As always, organic ingredients in regards to food & skin care is what I strive for. The ingredients in SuperEats chips are non-gmo, but they aren’t organic. This makes them a big step up from a bag of your typical big-box brand of chips (not naming names), but they aren’t as good (in regards to quality) as they could be. I look forward to the day SuperEats utilizes organic ingredients. I’d come back for more–many times over!

My Thoughts:

I am a huge devotee to juice–I have no problem putting money into quality juices because I believe they are such an excellent, nutrient dense drink. I was happy to discover Evolution juices at my local Whole Foods. I was instantly hooked. The array of flavors that they bottle are exciting and delicious.

I shared the specifics (above) about all of the juices that I have yet to try (there are many more mentioned on the Evolution site). Needless to say, only four of them are pictured at the top.

Some of the juices like Pineapple Cucumber Ginger & Pineapple Coconut Water are less dense than juices like Super Green and Defense Up. In other words, they are a lighter, less filling drink. I enjoy the lighter drinks for pre or post workout replenishment, whereas the dense and rich juices are my favorite about an hour before or after activity, as they’re more like meals.

I have yet to try a juice that I do not like–they’re all unique and spectacularly tasting.

Super Green tastes the best

Organic V & Ruby Roots are the most impressive to me as far as nutritional value goes

Sweet Burn has a unique and pleasant zip of sweetness and kick of heat

Defense Up is a perfect, tangy breakfast juice

Pineapple Coconut Water & Pineapple Cucumber Ginger are my favorite right after a run

Sweet Greens with Lemon is a no-frills, green smack in the mouth. I like it when I am feeling a little bit depleted (after a long run).

The only reason I don’t give these juices 5 stars is because not all of them are entirely organic. Many of them are–and I tend to purchase those the most. I look forward to trying more Evolution flavors and seeing more organic fruits and veggies in the future!
