Vega Sport Plant Based Supplements Review

Vega Sport

Overall Rating: 3 Stars

About Vega Sport:

You are what you eat.  And what you don’t.

Told from the onset that a plant-based diet wouldn’t cut it on the professional Ironman circuit, Brendan Brazier’s nutritional journey as an uninformed plant-powered endurance athlete began with reduced energy levels and the need to eat constantly.

But Brendan’s stubborn curiosity persevered and after years of research and experimentation, he discovered what sets a top athlete’s performance apart from the competition isn’t training or natural ability alone.  A big difference is nutrition. After intense study, Brendan created a plant-based, whole food diet that helped him recover faster and train harder – propelling him to become a top professional Ironman triathlete.

Constantly on the road competing, Brendan was challenged by both a lack of time and kitchen space to prepare the carefully composed, nutrient-dense, clean, plant-based meals that gave him his edge.  Deep down, he knew there had to be an easier way to get nutrition on-the-go.

And he was right. Over time, Brendan’s vision led to the formulation of the original all-in-one nutritional shake – now known as Vega One – which ultimately inspired the creation of the complete award-winning Vega line of nutritional supplements.”

My Thoughts:

I was psyched to meet Brendan Brazier (creator and mind behind Vega) at Natural Products Expo West this year. It was also a fantastic chance for me to sample all of their products–as they had all of their drinks premixed in almond milk and/or water. I was impressed with the flavor!

Trevor from Vega reached out to me to participate in Vega Sport’s #FuelYourBetter mission to bring active individuals together & share how they fuel their on-the-go lifestyle.

All of these products taste great, feel like they help boost my performance, stamina, recovery & energy–but I wish that the ingredients used were raw & organic. That’s what has kept me from diving in head first to Vega as a brand.

Vega Sport impacts my exercise habit & helps me to #FuelYourBetter by:

-Providing me a convenient, portable way to get a dose of energy before a workout (via the Preworkout Energizer & Energy Bar), help me sustain my performance level intra workout (via the Electrolyte Hydrator) and gives my body the means to adequately grow and replenish after a tough workout (via the Performance Protein Powder & Protein Bar).

What better looks like to me:

Lean, inspired & ready to take on ANY challenge!

How does having the right nutrition help me get there?

Nutrition is the centerpiece of my daily routine. I can’t be anywhere close to my best self without fueling my body well. Getting nutrients into my body is absolutely essential–it’s not optional! It fuels my adventures; and adventures make me feel alive.

Run On Organic Now has a Media Kit (& Why!)

When I started Run On Organic back in 2012,

during my last semester of college, I took it upon myself to create, forge & develop relationships with brands in an effort to try more products, learn more and help promote brands that I believe are doing a good thing. Back then, a large percentage of my effort was just that: me reaching out to brands that interested me, acquiring complementary samples in exchange for my honest & candid thoughts.

Run On Organic has grown a bit since then. I now have a passionate, supportive group of people through my blog & across many of the social media platforms. I am so thankful for every single one of you that subscribes to my blog and reads my thoughts. I truly do my best work, as fast as I can (amongst juggling wearing the other hats I wear in life).

With ROO’s growth has come a change in the percentage of work that I pursue and the work that falls in my lap. Right now, about 80 percent of the products that I review have been a result of a company/brand pursuing me as a writer/blogger. I am so stoked on that fact. I feel like it’s been such a cool thing to watch this little idea evolve and develop over the last few years.

Until this point, I have not hosted a single advertisement on blog. Any logos or links on my site are affiliate links (I get a teensy commission if you make a purchase using that link). However, I do not get paid otherwise to promote those brands.

To keep up with the demand of running ROO (brands asking me to collaborate with them, advertising inquiries, new projects that pop up frequently) I have formed a media kit. This brief graphic provides what I believe is fair to ask as compensation for my time spent promoting a brand, hosting ads, etc.

Transparency is very important to me. I felt compelled to share this slight shift of gears on ROO and promise to disclose in each post that I get paid that that’s the case. Know that what I share here is done with a mind that aims to and is driven to educate, inspire and disclose the truth about food & skin care. Whether I have been given the product or have purchased it myself is irrelevant in that regard–though many may assume that paid reviews are always biased. That’s not who I am and anyone who knows me can can speak to that.

That said, I am excited for what has been with ROO, what is & what’s to come.

Thank you to everyone along the way for offering your help, advice, guidance, support and good vibes. They are very felt. I appreciate every single comment that I ever get from you guys. I am overflowing with gratitude for you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Aduna World

Overall Rating: 5 Stars

About Aduna World:

“ADUNA IS AN AFRICA-INSPIRED HEALTH

AND BEAUTY BRAND AND SOCIAL BUSINESS.

Our products feature extraordinary and unique
natural ingredients from across the continent.

Aduna means ‘life’ or ‘world’ in Wolof, the local
language of The Gambia and Senegal. Our logo is
borrowed from a Ghanaian Adinkra symbol called
‘Owia Kokroko’, which stands for vitality, renewal
and the power of the sun.

Our mission is to breathe the vibrancy of Africa into the
daily lives of people around the world, whilst creating a
virtuous circle that feeds positive impacts back to the source.”

Moringa

About:

“Natural multivitamin.

25% protein.

High in antioxidants.

One of the most nutrient-dense foods on the
planet, Aduna Moringa is a 100% organic
green superfood made from the naturally-dried
leaf of the moringa tree.

Highly prized for its medicinal properties by
civilisations through the ages, the tree is drought
-resistant and every part of it has a different use.

It’s no wonder they call it The Miracle Tree.”

Baobab

About:

“Packed with Vitamin C.
Rich source of Fibre.
High in Antioxidants.

Aduna Baobab is a 100% natural, nutrient-dense,
raw wholefood. It is a rich source of vitamin C,
calcium, potassium and thiamin. It is also almost
50% fibre and has one of the highest antioxidant
capacities of any fruit in the world.

There is no such thing as a baobab plantation;
every tree is community-owned and wild harvested.

It’s no wonder we call it The Feel Good Fruit.”

My Thoughts:

I require no convincing that superfood supplementation is the way to get a hefty dose of nutrients into your body. Forget synthetic powders or concoctions that have been extensively manipulated in a lab. I’m interested in the real deal.

Adding these powders to your daily smoothie is a simple way to get them into your system (and even disguise them so that you barely taste them!) I value baobab and moringa for their nutrient rifeness & antioxidant content. Every superfood has a unique nutritional profile, however, all of them essentially have a similar impact on your body in that they boost your overall health, all-around. Thus, these superfoods can benefit anyone, regardless of your health goals. Moringa & baobab can be consumed as beauty foods that contribute to a clear complexion, as well as help eliminate digestive ailments, an imbalanced internal pH and a nutritient deficiency.

I recommend these superfoods by Aduna because they are both completely raw & organic. If you’ve ready my blog before, you’re all-too-aware that those primarily those two things make up my gold standard for supplements.

If you haven’t started incorporating superfoods into your diet, now is the time–really! It can be as simple as adding on of these little packets into your morning smoothie. Nourish yourself!

Fitfluential: About Time Protein Review

These products are:

1.       Gluten free, Non GMO, Great taste (all products)

2.       Transitions well into baking and all recipe types

3.       Sweetened with Stevia

4.       The vegan protein is dairy free, infused with coconut oil powder, no grit, 3 flavors

5.       Granola contains 9 g protein, fortified with chia seed- a perfect snack food by itself or in yogurt, in a smoothie or on top of sweet potatoes.

My Thoughts:

An a health geek for many years, I have been lucky enough to try a vast array of different protein powders, supplements, etc. To be frank, I am a bit of a supplement snob. I expect excellent quality both in regards to the ingredients being organic as well as being raw (at least the majority of them). Because of these high standards I’ve set for what goes into my body, I have to say that About Time protein products are about middle of the road.

To touch on taste–the bars & protein powders all taste okay, but not totally awesome. Organic and raw (or cold-processed) protein powders have a more wholesome, fresh taste to them. They taste less synthetic and closer to the source. Since About Time products are not organic & raw, they don’t taste as real to me.

Here’s what I do like about them:

-Non-gmo ingredients

-Sweetened with stevia

-Don’t taste bad

-Convenience provided via the single serving packs and bars (good for traveling)

-The idea of protein pancakes (not a new one–but it’s a great way to satisfy a comfort food craving with a protein rich meal)

They could improve in my eyes by:

-Using organic ingredients

-Adding superfoods to increase the health benefits

-Using all or mostly all raw ingredients (this would also improve the fresh taste)

-Eliminate the usage of casein (which is often highly processed and acidic to the body)

-Decreasing the carb content in the pancake mix
