CBD Oil Formulation

When shopping for Cannabidiol Oil online it can be hard to tell what brand to go with, so how can you tell the difference between a great product from a bad one?  Take a look at the label to see what is used in it and the concentration of CBD.  Our CBD Oil starts off with only the purest, highest quality CBD Hemp Oil Extract, then we add a splash of a couple of other natural oils you can pronounce to make up our full formula.

How about CBD concentrations?  This is where things get confusing if you have been looking at other oils you have probably noticed the concentrations of CBD range from 20 mg per 30 ml to around 2,000 mg per 30 ml.  You want to make sure you are buying a product that has enough CBD to provide the benefit you need.  If you are unsure please reach out to us, or consult with your physician first.

How to Take it

Unfortunately, due to FDA restrictions we can’t advise individuals on how much CBD Oil to take for specific conditions.  Most people end up taking 2-4 servings per day, during different times of the day.  Serving sizes are listed on the individual bottles and vary from 5mg (250mg bottle) to 15mg (1,000mg bottle). The CBD Oil bottles come with a dropper, so it is easy to adjust your serving size accordingly.

Some individuals require more or less than described above, as everybody is different. The key is to listen to your body and adjust accordingly.

Lab Testing

It does not matter what type of CBD product you are looking at, you need to ensure the products are lab tested in a certified lab that frequently tests for Cannabinoids (including CBD) in various products.  This is to make sure you are getting what you paid for and the results are reliable, as there are nuances to reliably testing CBD Oils.

We transparently post all of our lab results on our lab results and product pages.

My Nganic CBD Experience

Though it seems to be a controversial topic (mainly due to misinformation about CBD), I truly feel fortunate to have access to the many medicinal aspects of the hemp plant. From taking this CBD oil under my tongue a few times a day, I get no “high” feeling, no psychedelic effects. Instead, it’s calming and relaxing while also helping me mentally dial in at the same time.

I’ve heard from many former coworkers and colleagues that CBD has helped them heaps with their anxiety, stress and inability to fall asleep. I would not categorize myself as someone who deals with regular anxiety, but I am always searching to have a calmer disposition; one that allows me to handle whatever life throws at me (without completely losing my marbles).

After using this CBD oil for only a few days, I could notice a positive difference in how I felt. I actually like taking CBD as a part of my morning routine to start my day right. I feel like it puts me in a more even keel headspace. It also happens to pair well with morning meditations if that’s your cup of tea. The peppermint flavor of the oil I have is super easy to throw back (I do half a drop under my tongue + let some absorb for about 10 seconds before I swallow).

For the first time today, I added CBD to my coffee and the word perfection comes to mind. The peppermint was delicious with the java flavors and I enjoyed making it a part of my cup of coffee even more than just taking it by itself.

I appreciate Nganic’s practices and their noticeable commitment + passion for high quality CBD oil. Crossing paths with this brand makes me excited and reminds me that there are people out there creating beautiful products that truly help people live a more balanced life that feels good.

Purity Organic Coffee Review

This post is a review of Purity Organic Coffee’s products.

Purity Coffee

About:

Purity Coffee is completely focused on health from bean to bag.  We roast for the highest levels of antioxidants and the lowest levels of acrylamide.  Our coffee is lab-tested to be free of molds, mycotoxins and pesticides. One of the easiest changes anyone can make to their diet is to switch to healthier coffee!

Over 19,000 studies have shown that coffee is beneficial for general health and longevity and specifically for heart disease, liver disease, Alzheimer’s and type 2 diabetes.  Coffee is the richest source of antioxidants in the western diet and contains over 850 compounds (that aren’t present in tea or those sugar-filled caffeine energy drinks).

My Experience:

Coffee is such a massive part of our culture. I’m a big fan. I’m also super passionate about letting you guys know about brands that are growing coffee with massive regards to quality + purity. If you read thru their mission above, it’s easy to tell that they are doing coffee with the utmost regard for the health implications. I have a lot of appreciation for this. It may come as no surprise at this point, but it’s key to realize that (like food), not all coffee is grown equally. Most of it is grown with profit as the main goal, versus health and vitality. Thus, most coffee consumed is rife with pesticides and mold, due to the less than optimal growing conditions and processing practices.

The reason it’s important to me to have organic coffee is because it’s something I consume 6-7 days out of the week. Because I consume it so often, the quality is important to me. In general, that’s my rule of thumb with buying things organic. I don’t fret if 100% of what I consume is organic, but if it’s something I consume daily, then it moves high up on my priority list to seek an organic option.

We have a great Burr grinder at home so we opted for their bags of Whole Bean coffee, but they also have a K-Cup option for Keurig users. This coffee has a rich, smooth taste from the darker roasted beans and is delicious black or with your favorite healthy additives (we love superfoods and plant based milks).

I’m generally just very stoked to know about this brand. We don’t buy a lot of bagged coffees because we do a lot of our own roasting of green coffee beans at home (and most bagged coffees are cruddy and/or it’s hard to tell what’s in them and how they’ve been grown). However, Purity Coffee is changing how we view coffee. It will now be my go-to for our house and a great option for gifting to friends and family.

Planetbox Eco-Friendly Food Containers Review

This is a review + summary of my experience with Planetbox eco-friendly, sustainable lunch boxes and portable food containers.

I’ve always been on the look out for reusable, sturdy food storage options that don’t require me to use disposable plastic bags and give me the freedom to tote food/drinks around with me effortlessly. Planetbox totally fits this bill and then some.

About Planetbox:

  • Easy: PlanetBox will serve as your guide for what and how much to pack. We’ve done the thinking for you. And now your morning routine just got a whole lot easier.
  • Safe: We take “non-toxic, non-leaching, safe from BPA, phthalates, and lead” very seriously – in fact, it’s why we designed PlanetBox! We don’t think you will find safer products on the market than ours.
  • Cost Effective: Why should you pay this much for a lunchbox? Because it’s cheaper to buy food in bulk and pack your own meal. Because your health is worth it. And because it’s an investment your family will use every single day for many years to come – over its lifetime, it will pay off in spades.
  • Great Design: When something actually works well, it makes all the difference. We spent years studying and living how people use lunchboxes. We thoroughly thought through all the details, so you and your kids get the joy and ease of using a superbly designed product.
  • Enjoyable: Think packing lunch is a dreaded chore? Our innovative lunchboxes actually make packing lunch fun and enjoyable – for your kids and yourself!
  • Eco: PlanetBox lunches create a whole lot less trash, which should help you sleep better knowing you’re doing your part to help the planet for future generations.
  • Built to Last: This isn’t your childhood flimsy tin lunchbox. Our high quality stainless steel is warrantied for 5 years, and has been known to survive getting thrown off the school bus (not that we recommend that).
  • Healthy: Forget to pack some veggies? The empty compartment will remind you. Concerned about overeating? That won’t happen – PlanetBox is designed to hold sensible portions. So eat a rainbow of foods, and enjoy.
  • Stress-Free Cleanup: Dishwasher safe? Heck yeah. Peanut butter left for a week? No problem – our stainless steel doesn’t retain yucky food odors or stains like those unfortunate plastic containers do.
  • Customizable: Whether you’re a rock star, a paleontologist, or a flower child, we’ve got a magnet set for you. And when you decide to become an astronaut or fairy lover next year, just change your magnets and you’ve got a fresh new lunchbox to suit your style.

Here are the products I’m using:

Tall Dipper (dip/sauce container)

Tank (snack container)

Launch (Lunch box) with the Rocket Color Bag and Lotus Magnets

planetbox2

I am just so pleased with how easy my Planetbox is to pack, how it has pockets on the outside of the carrying bag (perfect for a La Croix or even the Tank snack container), how cool it looks, how many compliments I get on it, how easy it is to clean, how it fits a hefty sized meal and how it makes me feel like I’m doing something small + good for the planet.

The only thing I’ve run into is that I had trouble with leakage when I put a tomato sauce on top of some lentil noodle inside my Launch box. It seeped out the side. To prevent it the next time, I just put the sauce in the Tall Dipper instead. Worked well that way!

Now Foods Immersion Event Recap

This post is sponsored by Fitfluential on behalf of NOW Foods.

NOW Foods Immersion Event

NOW Foods was generous enough to fly out + accommodate a handful of bloggers and writers this year in order to allow us to get a deeper look into how their products are sourced + manufactured + tested + brought to shelves of health food stores all over.

I am at a loss for words on how to best summarize this trip, but I thought it would be the realest + clearest to share notes that I took as the trip transpired. They are essentially bullet point style quotes and factoids. This is how my brain works, so,  this is how I write!

Screenshot.png

What stood out the most to me about my experience at NOW Foods was the quality of the people and the mindfulness + attention to detail with production. The neatest thing that blogging has brought me is a priceless set of experiences. I’ve met some incredible people on this trip, and that experience has enriched my life. There’s something about being thrown together with a bunch of people you’ve never met that awakens the human spirit. We gravitate to conversations where we find our commonplace. We feel profoundly connected thru this experience.

The coolest part of that is the staff at NOW Foods was a part of that. It wasn’t just the bloggers that I connected to. It was the people that make up the NOW Foods Team as well.

I think you’ll be able to tell how good of a time we had by these photos….

In regards to the quality of NOW Products as a whole (which I’m sure a bunch of you consumers are wondering about!), I felt assured and confident after seeing the rigorous testing that is done on the batches of supplements + food + beauty products that are produced. It’s impressive how much work is put into maintaining clean + pure products when they have such a large number of SKUs.

Perhaps the most profound thought I had in regards to product quality that I wanted to make sure I mentioned in this post was that: having an organic certification stamped on your label is not everything. It’s about: where are these ingredients sourced from + how are they grown + how are they processed? That ultimately dictates what the product ends up being. Not a label. It’s about the care that’s put into the whole sourcing to manufacturing process, from start to finish.

I say this because I know many people may overlook NOW initially because they don’t see the USDA Organic label on the packaging. Well, I’m here to tell you that I have witnessed many brands that throw the word “organic” around, but what they are doing is using that word, but then not practicing it. Whereas there are plenty of products that are not labeled as organic but are tested for pesticide content. Every brand is different, but it’s something to consider.

I am SO excited for the generous boatload of goodies that NOW provided to me (they even shipped it from the event to my home). It’s about $350 in value and loaded with supplements ranging from a Women’s probiotic to a Plant Protein powder to a Blender. The even-better news? They want to give one away to you!

Pact Organic Athletic Apparel Experience

This is a review + my experience with Pact Organic Apparel.

5-stars

About Pact Organic:

“Conventional cotton uses about 16% of the world’s insecticides and 7% of pesticides. In addition, the World Bank estimates that around 20% of industrial water pollution in the world comes from the treatment and dyeing of textiles. Not to mention the issues around forced labor, child labor, and factory collapses… it’s a dirty business (and we’re on a mission to change it).

We’re committed to organic cotton to minimize our impact on the environment and improve the conditions and quality of life for the people who make our clothing. PACT ORGANIC unites the collective vision of organic cotton farming, responsible manufacturing, sustainable and ethical certifications, and values-based shopping. We believe organic cotton is the foundation for addressing labor and environmental challenges that surround clothing. Our mission is to change the apparel industry for good.

No toxic chemicals are used in the growing of organic cotton. It doesn’t damage the soil, has less impact on the air, and uses 71% less water and 62% less energy than conventional cotton. Organic certification in manufacturing requires dyes to meet biodegradability/eliminability standards, the proper treatment of water, and prohibits the use of toxic heavy metals.

Growing organic cotton keeps farmers and their families safe. They are not exposed to toxic chemicals in the field or through their food and water supply. It also means farmers grow more than one crop which supplements their food and income. In India, farmers have the added benefit of earning the Fair Trade premium.

Our organic cotton is certified by The Global Organic Textile Standard. One of the key pillars of GOTS is the protection of workers’ rights. Employment is freely chosen, working conditions are safe and hygienic, living wages are paid, no discrimination is practiced, and no child labor is used.

We believe shoppers can change industries with the simple, everyday choices of our purchasing decisions. By choosing organic over conventional cotton you have the power to influence people and planet in a big way. Organic cotton makes up less than 1% of the world’s global cotton supply – that’s a big opportunity for change!”

My Experience:

Supersupersuper excited is a good way to describe my feelings when learning that I’d be collaborating with Pact Organic for this run down.

Even if you just skimmed through the information above that Pact shares on their website, so get a good idea that this is very much a “bigger picture” kind of brand. Not only are they thinking about sustainability and the impact of what they are creating, but they are generating beautiful apparel + underwear that feel better and look better.

Not pictured above are the socks Pact sent (crew + dressy style socks) that I’ve been wearing regularly to work underneath my high top sneakers. They provide a comfortable + breathable layer and I’m digging the feel. Also, Pact sent me two pairs of men’s boxer briefs. When my boyfriend first put them on, he smiled and said, “Yeah, they feel good!” That’s a win in my mind!

Having organic underwear is awesome because: you want the highest quality + clean materials next to your most importantest parts, right?

Even if it’s not top priority for you to buy organic + sustainably made clothing, you’d be hyped on this brand SIMPLY because of the feel and fit of the pieces. The underwear and cami are particularly comfy + cozy and the hoodie is already a staple in my gym bag.

The leggings I see as being more of a layering piece, as I’d categorize them as low rise tights on me. I prefer to work out in high rise leggings, so these will be my layering + lounging + around the house leggings. I’m excited that this brand is getting their name out there (and I get to be a part of helping do that–soooo cool).
