Mercola Vitamin E Review & Giveaway

Mercola

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

About Mercola:

“You are wise to question who you can trust when it comes to maintaining, enhancing or rebuilding your health.

With all websites, newspapers, magazines and other publications offering health advice, with every new multi-million dollar TV ad for another proclaimed miracle drug, with any recommendation offered by traditional and natural physicians, it is essential to answer this question above all others: what is their real motivation?

Only if the answer provides you with a sense of security, move on to the next important question: what are their qualifications? The primary trick of the existing medical establishment is to get you to forget that first question – their real motivation – by dazzling you with what appears to be magnificently trustworthy qualifications.

But clinical trials conducted by heavily biased “researchers,” advertisements and news stories carefully scripted to scare you into belief, highly polished corporate offices and corporate websites, and an extreme focus on whatever has the most profit potential – not lifesaving or life-enhancing potential – are not qualifications. They are scams.

Don’t fall for them.

My motivation, whether you are a member of the Mercola.com community, or have just heard about me for the first time, is to make you as healthy as you can possibly be. This involves:

  1. Providing the most up to date natural health information and resources that will most benefit you and,
  2. Exposing corporate, government and mass media hype that diverts you away from what is truly best for your health and often to a path that leads straight into an early grave.

Mercola.com is not, in other words, a tool to get me a bigger house and car, or to run for Senate. I fund this site, and therefore, am not handcuffed to any advertisers, silent partners or corporate parents.

When I offer or recommend products, I do so because I have actively researched them and find they are the best in that category for your health. I ignore substandard products, and products not directly pertinent to your health, regardless of any potential financial upside.”

Vitamin E

About:

“There are plenty of vitamin E supplements on the market. You can find one practically anywhere you look. But the vast majority of them use soy as their source of vitamin E.

So when looking for a good alternative, I wanted to not only avoid soy but also wanted to make sure whatever natural source of vitamin E was used was not genetically engineered (GE). That’s why I decided to use sunflowers for the source of vitamin E. They are an excellent natural source of vitamin E.

But soy isn’t the only thing you need to be wary of.

It is vital to get a balance of all eight nutrients in a vitamin E supplement you take to complement your healthy diet.

You see if the vitamin E supplement only contains alpha tocopherol (synthetic or natural), there’s another major issue. If high levels of alpha tocopherol flood your system, they can potentially deplete the other tocopherols and tocotrienols from your body…

Here’s how my Vitamin E supplement provides a fantastic balance of all four tocopherol and tocotrienol compounds…

  • Vitamin E (as d-alpha tocopherol) – 200 international units (IU)
  • Tocopherol complex – 150 milligrams (mg) with alpha tocopherol, beta tocopherol, gamma tocopherol, and delta tocopherol
  • Palm and Rice Tocotrienol – 35 mg with alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocotrienols

There are very few formulas I’ve run across that come close to this type of balance. And when it comes to tocotrienols, there are even fewer choices available.”

My Thoughts:

Like you’ll hear Dr. Mercola say on his website, I do not see a NEED for a ton of supplements. Most of what you need on a daily basis should come from your diverse, plant-rich diet. That’s not to say supplements cannot help fill the gaps in our diet–because they can. As an antioxidant found in many foods (in small amounts–the most concentrated being Wheat Germ) Vitamin E is something our bodies need. This supplement by Dr. Mercola is one of the few out there that is derived from sunflowers, versus soy. Since 91% of soy in the US is genetically modified, it behooves you to steer away from it when possible.

From what I know about this product, I see it to be a good choice as a Vitamin E single-vitamin supplement. I would love to see further proof or literature that this Mercola Vitamin E is derived from ORGANIC sunflower oil. That, to me, would solidify its quality.

Ellovi Lip Butter

Overall Rating: 5 Stars

Ellovi’s Description:

“We’ve taken all of the best things about Ellovi Butter, and made the perfect portable variation for your lips.

Like Butter, Lip Butter is made with just six ingredients so pure you can eat them.

The six ingredients are Hawaiian coconut, sunflower, hemp, macadamia, Ghanaian marula, and shea.

Each ingredient plays a specific role in keeping your lips hydrated and happy.”

My Description & Thoughts:

I previously composed a review on Ellovi’s other product, butter. Butter is a versatile product and it truly stands out to me within the long list of skin care products I’ve tried. I love how simple and pure the ingredients are.

I have merely the same things to say about this lip butter. It. Is. Awesome! This lip butter quickly became one of the lip balms I use most.

In regards to organic ingredients, I got this great info from Kelly about Ellovi products:

“4 of our ingredients are certified organic, and the other 2 are wildly harvested.

We use the term “ethically sourced” to describe our ingredients because we only buy from companies that treat their employees well and pay them fair wages. We also work with a few fair trade organizations such as Global Mamas, (an amazing company that helps provide sustainable income opportunities for women in Africa).”

I have come to learn that the term “wild-harvested” is very similar to the word organic, but often without the certification. Plants that are wild harvested are grown away from pesticides and harsh chemicals–a great thing! So, when you see that on a natural product, that often is a great sign.

I recommend this product to everyone. I think men and women alike will find that it becomes their “go-to” lip balm. It’s also perfectly suited for children. My 5 year old turns her nose up at lip balms that sting her lips (products that contain minty ingredients), making Ellovi Lip Butter one that she loves, as it has a pure, fresh, earthy, nutty, pleasant aroma to it.

Kaia Naturals: Juicy Bamboo Facial Cleansing Cloths Review

Kaia Naturals: Juicy Bamboo Cleansing Cloths

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

Finding organic makeup removal cloths is a rare thing, as most that you’ll find are absolutely chemical ridden. Kaia Naturals is a company I’m glad I came across. Amy at Kaia Naturals was a joy to communicate with and she was gracious enough to provide me with samples in order to try these cleansing cloths for the first time.

Kaia Naturals’ Description:

“The natural cleanser, toner, eye makeup remover that doesn’t fry your skin.  we promise! oh and…it naturally removes waterproof mascara without the torture!”

jb-colelciton-slider

My Description & Thoughts:

These little, individually wrapped towelettes couldn’t be any more portable and practical for daily use. I traveled with these recently and they fit easily in my makeup bag and took up virtually no room.

They truly remove all makeup–thoroughly, while somehow still feeling gentle on skin (the good ingredients that the cloths are soaked in are to thank). They even do a great job tackling thick and stubborn eye makeup like eyeliner and mascara. In regards to effectiveness, these could not improve–they are ideal.

It is a real treat for skin to come into contact with organic honey–it is wonderfully and naturally nourishing and also helps maintain an adequate level of moisture on skin. Because of this, these cloths won’t dry out your skin. I would love to see the rest of the ingredients in organic form as well, though I realize organic essential oils are significantly more expensive than non-organic, which would make these cloths pricier, I’d imagine. It would be worth it to me, though, in order to have the peace of mind in knowing I am using the very best on my skin.

It is always nice to see a product that has a list of harmful components that they do not use. This tells me that they are ingredient conscious and see the harm in using those items.

Not having entirely organic ingredients is the only reason that I would not give these Kaia Naturals cleansing cloths “5 stars.” It is worth mentioning, though, that the quality of these cloths is light years better than makeup-removing cloths you’d find in your neighborhood market or drug store. Because of this, and because of the presence of organic honey and gentle bamboo material, I’d definitely recommend these to family and friends who are looking for a natural way to take off makeup.
