I’m stoked to announce that along with 125 other clean beauty advocates, we’re the judging panel for the 7th Clean Beauty Awards, organized by CertClean, North America’s leading certification for safer skincare.

This year, 455 clean beauty products were entered in 24 categories. I’ll be judging at least one category this year — For those who don’t know, I used to have cystic acne but was able to clear it up through clean beauty and lifestyle adjustments. Currently, my skin type is a combination oily/dry, and my skin concerns are cheek redness and irritation. I have long (down to my hips), naturally straight (occasionally wavyish) hair.

Established in 2015, the global Clean Beauty Awards is the largest awards program celebrating excellence in “clean beauty” products. This year, the 7th annual Clean Beauty Awards received 455 entries from 176 brands from all over Canada, the US, and throughout Asia Pacific and Europe. A judging panel of 126 green beauty advocates and experts will soon be testing the products to determine the best performing products in 24 product categories.

CertClean, North America’s leading certification for safer skincare, screens ingredient lists for 1400+ chemicals that may pose threat to human health. When you see the CertClean seal of approval on a product, you can be sure the product is free from 1400+ chemicals of concern.

Being a Cert Clean Beauty Awards Judge

Here are some of my judging parameters that I’ll be using to provide feedback:

• Ease of Use: How easy was the process? Were the instructions clear?
• User Experience: Think about your senses. How was the look, touch, feel, smell, etc. How did the product interact with your body?
• Would Recommend: Would you recommend this product to others?
• Overall Performance: Did this product do what it said it would do? Did the product achieve the desired result?

Another pertinent thing to note is that this year, the category I am judging is the Facial Oil Category. There are 7 total products and in this category and I already have some favorites. Also worth mentioning is that each product is very unique. Here they are!
