Crossrope Jump Rope Review
I’m writing this blog post in the middle of a pandemic, so home workouts are a fitting topic. Like the rest of the world, the last 6+ months have looked different for me in terms of workouts.
During this work-from-home age, I have actually experienced an increase in my workload. I blog (hey!) in addition to my full time remote job. This is one reason I have been working out from home more often. Though we still have a crossfit gym a few miles away that we can go to, I find that my days have flowed a bit better lately if I stay close to home for my workout.
We have a decent set up in our garage for a couple that loves Crossfit. Adding these Crossropes to our garage set up has been absolutely awesome. The nature of Crossfit is a bit different than other fitness practices. Every daily workout looks different. In other words, some days you are doing barbell movements, other days it’s gymnastic movements, running, biking, etc.
Crossrope Gives You Access to Video Workouts
Crossrope offers a really incredible selection of workouts that you can access for home fitness, and I highly recommend that you utilize them if you like a game plan or instruction for the workout ahead. But, I’ve been using these ropes the most in my Crossfit workouts. A lot of the time I’ll make up my own workouts for home.
Any given day might look something like this:
5 Rounds:
-20 kettlebell single arm hang snatch (10 each arm)
-10 burpees
-8 ring rows
-40 Crossrope single unders
In Crossfit, we often do double unders (which is why I designated single unders in the above workout). For those unfamiliar with Crossfit movements, double unders are when the rope travels under your feet twice when you jump. It typically calls for a faster wrist motion and a higher jump.
With the weighted Crossrope ropes, single unders are a good challenge, especially with the 1lb and 2lb ropes. I’ve found myself using mostly the two heaviest ropes for workouts. However, the next thing I’m aiming for is attempting double unders with the lighter ropes.
Single unders have been the best for me lately, as we suspect that I have a labrum tear in my left shoulder. Jump roping at high reps (especially when you introduce a weighted rope) is actually really taxing on the shoulders, which is why I haven’t jumped right into double unders with the weighted ropes.
Crossrope Jump Rope Review: Concluding Thoughts
I’ve been truly impressed with the quality of these ropes, the noticeable durability and how they feel when you use them. As you can see in the above photo, the grips detach from the ropes so that you can effortlessly change which rope weight you’re using. The grips actually do help you hang on, as they have a rubbery, leathering texture to them.
Overall, its been a really enjoyable way to elevate my workouts at home. The weighted component is my favorite part, as you can feel the increase in challenge right away. I love a good challenge!
Having the ropes being different colors is a small, but helpful trait of these ropes. I appreciate the small travel bags for the ropes, too. The bags help me keep my gym bag organized, as I throw them in there with other things like gymnastics grips, wrist wraps, lifting shoes, etc.
