FLEO Leggings

FLEO is a women-owned activewear brand that believes in no photoshopping and high performance. This ethos resonates so much with me, because the highly manicured & manipulated photography in women’s fitness has done a lot of damage, in my opinion.

I love supporting a brand that shares my beliefs around women’s bodies being powerful, and designing activewear to support that. Simply by advocating for women to be themselves and accept their physique while living active lifestyle; they are doing a whole lot. In a word rife with messaging that women should tone it down, lower their voice, and live apologetically, FLEO’s mission stands out. Converse to society’s message to women, FLEO claps with encouragement and praise so that women can continue to grow into their strength and powerful life force.

On top of the fact that their mission is incredible, FLEO leggings, shorts, and other activewear are incredibly comfortable. The fabrics used include nylon, polyester, and spandex, and make for a dreamy feel that offers functions for high-performance workouts. Too, FLEO offers high-rise fits, which is always my preference.

El Toro Legging – Olive

The El Toro legging comes down right below the calf for me, and I’m typically a 35″ inseam gal. We joke that I am all legs, small torso, and my husband is all torso, short legs (yet we are the same height). So, if you have more of a normal inseam leg, these leggings in the 25″ length may be full length on you.

FLEO’s El Toro Leggings are 74% Nylon and 26% Spandex. The feel is stretchy, yet provides some structure and a medium amount of compression. This fabric is what FLEO calls their “Muse Fabric”, and I would say it has a more performance-feel, compared to the Reverie leggings below.

El Toro Legging Review

The overall vibe of the El Toro Legging suits me best. I tend to prefer a legging that’s high rise, below the calves, and has no pockets. Moreover, the look of a smooth leg without seams is my favorite. I definitely see the use for pockets and use them plenty in the pairs I have, but my dream leggings are this aesthetic.

This color feels like me, too. It feels earthy and like a nod to nature. I do most of my workouts outdoors, so this color in FLEO’s Deeply Cool Collection really feels like it compliments the whole scenario. There’s also something to be said about feeling elevated by the colors you’re wearing. I definitely feel elevated in earth tones (browns, tans, and greens).

El Toro Legging Sizing

I am typically all over the place with sizing because I typically like a baggy top and a tight legging. In these photos, I am wearing a Large in the Olive (green) colored El Toro legging, and the fit is good for some walking and low-intensity yoga. For high intensity workouts that include a big range of motion, I would recommend sizing down. A tighter fit would be my preference for that mode of exercise, as they will stay in place optimally.

For leggings that do not have a drawstring, I recommend sizing down. When you have a drawstring, you can get away with buying your size. It’s truly all about how you prefer to have them fit and what kind of exercise you do. I have a range of sizes for this reason. Also, there are times of the month that you don’t want a tighter fit. For those times, I would recommend not sizing down.

Reverie – Stone Gray

The FLEO Reverie legging is another high-rise option that also has a 25″ inseam. With external pockets on each leg and seams that provide a different look, this version offers a sporty and functional look. The pockets of the FLEO Reverie Legging are deep enough to hold a smartphone or small wallet. Similar to the Deeply Cool Collection’s El Toro leggings, the Reverie legging may be full length on you if you wear a regular inseam size in pants. For me, they come to right below the bottom of my calf muscle.

FLEO’s Reverie Leggings are 87% Polyester and 13% Spandex. The feel of these is more cozy, more dreamy, and doesn’t provide compression. This fabric is what FLEO calls their “Bounce Fabric”, and I would say it has a more loungey, compared to the Toro leggings below.

Reverie Legging – Stone Gray Review

If you read my breakdown above about the sleek look of the El Toro legging, you might wonder if the Reverie legging turned out to be a good fit for my preferences. Though I don’t normally like pockets nor the look of them, I think FLEO does an excellent job of making them blend in beautifully. Since they use a light brown thread color for the stitching, it really works in my opinion. I also like how unique this color is in my closet. I don’t have anything else close to it.

If you have apprehension about how “flattering” wearing a lighter color might be on you, I’d just offer up that I’ve been really happy with them. It feels like they celebrate my frame.

Also, I see this legging model as being the ideal fit for walks and gym outings where I don’t have pockets in a sweatshirt or jacket. These leggings effortlessly hold a key, credit card, ID, etc. They an even hold my phone, though I wouldn’t run with it in there due to the weight of it.

Reverie Legging – Stone Gray Sizing

In these photos, I’m wearing a Medium in these FLEO Reverie Leggings. So, I have them in a size smaller than the El Toro legging. I would recommend this size differentiation between these two legging models. The Reverie has a different fabric and feels like it offers more stretch. Thus, sizing down might work best for you.

Overall FLEO Leggings Review

Being someone that’s been in the Crossfit world since 2015-ish, I have seen numerous women wearing the FLEO brand during workouts. I’ve always assumed they were a brand that women enjoyed wearing, as I saw the logo on shorts and leggings left and right. Too, I had always noticed that the patterns and colors of FLEO activewear and unique and fun–they stand out. And, the fact that they have high rise offerings and pieces that compliment my shape (the crop shirts and long sleeves look right up my alley).

When you think about that history of my personal brand recognition, it’s amazing that I’m just now trying FLEO. But, I have a closet full of activewear and I wasn’t sure that I needed anything new. But, it’s pretty invaluable for me to have a discovered a brand that fits well, suits my lifestyle, is comfortable, and allows me to support a smaller business that is not the most mainstream option.

I enjoy “voting” with my dollar and supporting women-owned businesses that support women living in authenticity. I’m down with that and I hope you’re stoked to check out FLEO’s activewear lineup. They have pieces to suit every personality and personal style. I’ve found a new place to go when I’m looking for new activewear.
