Organic Homemade Toothpaste Recipe
Since your mouth is the beginning of your gastrointestinal tract, it’s got significant implications on your microbiome. Your microbiome is a crucial part of your immune system and can help fuel or hinder illness in the body. Thus, keeping your mouth clean with anti-viral & anti-microbial ingredients is helpful for maintaining your health. Oral infections can impact other parts of your wellness, so it’s helpful to create non-toxic, effective habits around caring for your teeth.
It’s simple to whip up your own toothpaste. The best part is that you can have peace of mind knowing you aren’t putting garbage into your mouth (just take a look at the ingredient list on your typical store-bought toothpaste).
Ingredients
Equal parts of organic coconut oil and baking soda
10 drops of peppermint essential oil per 1/2 cup of mixture
Instructions
When I make this, I wing it. No measurements–I just eyeball it. However, I realize some people take to recipes. 🙂 I just make a paste of the coconut oil and baking soda, then add several drops of the peppermint essential oil. Enjoy a mouthful of minty, organic freshness!
It’s even okay if you swallow a little of it (unlike most toothpastes–who instruct you to call poison control if ingested). No worries here!

This is so cool!
