My Thoughts:
I am totally into the notion that our digestive systems are big-time important for overall health for two main reasons:
-Digestion directly effects the immune system
-Efficiency of digestion is vital in helping you retain the nutrients in what you eat
I feel good about the habits I’ve formed that help contribute to my healthy gut. Fermented foods and raw food containing probiotics are two great routes to pamper your digestion.
I can’t tell you how excited I was to see a cold-pressed, raw, organic juice line that harnesses the digestive health-boosting benefits of probiotics in addition to hearty & robust fruits and vegetables. Hello drink wonderment!
I fell in love with Garden of Flavor after reading their mantra: “Nature. We have nothing more to add.” It’s perfect–& it tells me that they have a good head on their shoulders, so to speak, in regards to healthy nutrition. No bogus ingredients, just the good stuff.
Along with my belief in fruits and vegetables, I am a firm proponent that herbs and spices can really have a massive & positive effect on your wellbeing and livelihood. Garden of Flavor includes cinnamon, turmeric, parsley, mint and ginger in their drinks. The Turmeric Tonic they sent me to try had a zippy, light zing to it. What a combination of flavors! The lemon, ginger, mint, turmeric, agave & cayenne made for a complex yet really enjoyable drink.
Whenever I need that extra boost of pep in my stem, or just an overall lively, refreshed feeling, I look to greens. I drink at least one huge jar of homemade, blended green drink every day, but I also value the convenience of having a bottle in the fridge ready to drink. Also, Garden of Flavor adds more goodies to their green drinks that make it an even more power-packed drink. I found the Mean Green to be a big green punch in the face (the best kind) with a zesty lightness from the lemon. The apples and cucumber in the Green Harmony take a little bit of the green edge off, if you find that a big much if you’re new to raw, green juice. Sometimes I just want the greens, no sugary taste, just earthy goodness. In that case, I’d pick the Mean Green. Otherwise, the Green Harmony does the trick. That’s not to say that the Green Harmony is loaded with sugar since it contains the apples–it’s not. You can just tell a tiny bit of difference in the sweet aftertaste.
Garden of Flavor juices offer all of the specs that I look for at this point in my life when I consider nutrition. They’re organic, raw, living, cold-pressed. Basically, they GET IT! They get what the body needs. They’ve bottled it–and they’ve done it well.
Kudos to Garden of Flavor for creating a fresh, health-serving take on the increasingly more common cold-pressed juice. I will be coming back for more! I can’t wait to try all of the other juice combinations.
