Each of us have our own version of indulging: whether it’s once a day, once a week or only during holidays + celebrations. Regardless of the frequency, everyone can benefit heaps from adopting a detox routine. During the holidays, these detox aids can help you cleanse fast from holiday eating, drinking and overindulging.

Detoxing doesn’t have to mean some expensive, elaborate juice cleanse or a raw foods diet (even though i LOVE green juice and it’s great for detoxing). Cleansing the body can be simple, easily affordable and useful if you have a hangover, if your energy levels are down or if you just want a metabolic edge.

Check out these 4 ingredients and their applications for detoxing:

Apple Cider Vinegar

-Acts as a digestive aid and encourages a healthy + vital GI tract

-Improves your complexion, aid internal cleansing, makes bowel movements more regular

-Consume by taking a shot or diluting it in a 12oz glass of water or fresh juice

Activated Charcoal

-Binds to toxins, heavy metals and chemicals in your systems and expels them through the GI tract

-Consume by combining with water in a shaker bottle

Bentonite Clay

-Similar to activated charcoal, bentonite clay pairs with harsh toxins in the system and helps your body get rid of them

-Consume like activated charcoal: in a shaker bottle with water to avoid clumpiness

Baking Soda

-Quickly adjusts stomach pH, increases alkalinity

-Great for neutralizing a pained or sour stomach (after acidic foods like alcohol or fried foods

-Consume by stirring into a 12oz glass of water

Take it Up (Several) Notches

Combine all 4, let the fizz settle (the apple cider vinegar and baking soda react when combined) and throw it down the hatch. It’s not going to taste awesome, but focus on the benefits and chase it with something like juice or lemon water. Hello detox party!
